So exactly why would your daily fps gaming be relevant to spore?? I think I know what you mean, fps - run around and kill and repeat...BUT you still cannot compare those games in any way imo.
The comparison is valid when you consider that even the most repetitive of gaming genres offers a superior experience. I absolutely meant what I wrote about Spore: in my opinion, it's horribly boring... and I doubt you could offer me an incentive that's enticing enough to make me consider playing it again.
Well, to bad the original game didn't make it out. Now we have Sims 3 Evolution. I never got into the Sims. This game has a lot of good ideas but it's for kids. What a shame, just like Return of the Jedi was a shame made for kids. They should have made 2 versions, 1 adult and 1 for kids. That would have been very exciting. I have completely maxed out my creature on the ground stage and its screaming for me to go to Tribal. The cute graphics are nice and the colors are nice. The control is easy and so far the game is easy. I do like the giant creatures that parade around like TRexs! That's a good idea, just make it an adult game with a bloodier/darker theme!

I couldn't help myself and throw in a rant at his last post. Poster's name is called "Evo". I quote what i've posted here:
Spoiler:
Poor sod, just because Spore doesn’t fit with your views and/or religion it’s a bad game? It’s harmful to our children? To our society? To mankind? Do you think that non-believers are sinners too? That they are sent to this “so-called-place” known as hell? Welcome to the modern world, where people have “freedom of speach and religion”.
Man, face it, this world has got people living on it that have totally different views, ideas, etc than yours. This doesn’t mean that everything that does not comply with your *ideas* are bad.
Also, the so called “arguments” you throw into this awfully misplaced discussion are, actually, non-arguments. The post about a creature that’s, I quote, a “demon-like intelligent space creature that violently take over the galaxy”, is a design choice. You don’t HAVE to be violent to start, play or even win this game. This game can even be won by diplomacy, tradesmanship, negociation, friendship and alliances.
And you’re complaining about the game “not having technology to ban these creations”. Well, in fact, it DOES have that technology in two forms. First, there’s the team over at the developers/sporepedia constantly watching possible rule violations (as a matter of fact, nudity is a rule violation and you can be banned for this). And secondly, there is a big red BAN button in the game where it’s possible to ban creatures from the game and sporepedia.
Oh another thing, the people that created these “adulterated” creatures are probably some puberal teenagers that think it’s funny. These guys could even buy a pencil and draw naked people on paper, or even buy a can of spraypaint and paint it on walls. Should we ban pens, pencils, paper and paint for this? No!
So all in all, i guess all arguments you throw into this discussion are downright false and can easily be turned around. I don’t expect you to shut down this site, just reconsider the reasons why you said “no” to your kid.
"YARR! We be stealin' yer games an plundrin' yer gold!" sez the pirate.
Strange. It's late so I've not got time to read the site thoroughly, but I think this is either a joke, viral marketing or both. It's very possibly genuine of course - I just doubt it, especially as Spore is the best advertisement for creationism going.

Hmm got to space stage.. currently bored now.. "pirates attack planet" i go to planet "too late" FFS annoying as hell
Heres the thing (my observations):
Spoiler:
If pirates attack, you can safely ignore them. You will lose some spice on that planet, but since it fills up to max pretty fast anyway, who cares.
If aliens attack and you have more than one colonies in the system, just ignore them as well.. I've never seen aliens attack multiple planets in the same system at the same time, so as long as you have one more planet thats yours, they will just shoot your planet into surrendering, then leave.. at which time you fly there and the planets capture bar resets in about 15-20 seconds.
If you only have one colony in the system however, you are out of luck.. you have to go there and prevent the alien attack.
As for eco disasters.. thats about the only event you really have to worry about, as if just one species go extinct, then your food web (chain?!?) destabilizes and terrascore drops instantly, resulting in the loss of colonies and colony buildings.
Its an ugly thing and i do hope they will change the way it works in a patch.
You can't even compare spore now and in the 2005 video it's a different game, mothefucking kiddy ea, you had to ruin it god damn bastards wait till I buy that nuke, just wait.
Jesus, this is the same game as the one from the 2005 demo. It's fucking Will wright. Mr Sims. 20 years making games and not a hint of blood. If any of you thought it was going to be gritty/real/bloody or dark, then you're smoking the wrong stuff. In the speech in/around that demo he talks about things that were very specifically not hardcore, it's just ridiculous to think it would be.
But I guess you can make anything how you want it to be, if you think hard enough. annnnd then whine on nforce.

creationists don't believe in evolution
Well, the belief of creationists is actually wildly differing, and the idea they don't believe in evolution is generally false as they typically do - just not in the all encompassing manner in which we might. Furthermore; Spore doesn't represent evolution, it represents intelligent design.
You bring up the copy protection, that makes you fail. Copy protection's have no partin the actual game and should there for not be mentioned in a review of the game, review the instal process and you may talk about it. It's like this lame talk about some ps3 games needing instal to hard drive, that aslo somthing that should not be taken up in a review of the game as it has nothing to do with the game
Never really paid much attention to the hype surrounding this game, so I went in without many expectations... and I really enjoyed it, right up until I had a fairly sizable empire built up in the space age. The constant pirate attacks and eco disasters irritated the hell out of me! As another poster pointed out, the game really needs a system where you can delegate such tasks without having to drop what you're doing and fly back through dozens of systems. It's not fun or rewarding as it is now.
when copy protection interferes with playing the game, like me not being able to play the game for six months until a crack appeared for a game i PAID FOR, it has a profound impact on my enjoyment and opinion of the said game
if it's an irremovable part of the game experience out of the box, it's all fair game - not being up to developer is irrelevant
can't comment on the review though as youtube says it's not available
possibly something wrong with my isp

cant agree and your entitled to your opinion, but when a legitamate game I own (ala Bioshock) was fucked up the wazoo when i installed and wouldnt work that effects the game
I made referance to a FICTIONAL ea title at the end and mention copy protection. A FICTIONAL game, you might have watched the review but you obviously didnt listen
Well I encountered a bug (copyprotection?) just after the flying lesson with the spacecraft - not able to press the communication button even though it flashes like mad.
Edit: I guess it was just a bug - was able to restart and continue beyond that point. Thank god I saved not long before.

No I didn't, there as no sound at the computer I was on, was kinda fun to watch.
Shack: Were the phases pretty solid all the way through development, or were there any that were axed or added late into the game?
Morgan Roarty: Uhh.. [Nervous glance toward EA representative.] Yeah, I mean, there was a city game at one point. You know, there's Cell, Creature, Tribe--there was a city design at one point, that sort of bridged Tribe and Civilization. That might be new information, but yeah. A game this big, the scope's so large, we had to start cutting and figuring out what we could get done.
Ea assassins, he says the wrong thing and he'll get put to death, why the hell is an ea representative following him around when he gives an interview? Castro and Stalin have nothing on Ea.
And I just love when they start 'cutting stuff' either live up to your promises or don't release the shit at all.
