Does that really surprise you after Simcity Societies?
EA is all about making stuff accessible now. The lowest common denominator. I'm surprised there isn't just a big green button available when the game starts that you push and some creatures dance and you win.

it makes me sad , when i watched the trailers from the early build this game was much darker , bloody and showed the life in brown colors ... in the new trailers this game is showed as a kids game for every one i was like WTF HAPPENED from unique it became common trash and it only took EA one year to do that ... EA fucks up everything

Well they were aiming to make it more casual, have to say that the first version shown in the early videos looked pretty interesting as well but it's still a decent game.

Your comment made me look up the following video - from the GDC 2005
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8372603330420559198
How the FUCK can a game go from that uberness to the utter fucking garbage that was released at final? I mean.....just...HOW? Wow, the game would have been legendary if they had simply released that beta as the final and called it a day. Graphically, that 2005 beta looked a hundred times better then what they opted for in 2008. The gameplay was gritty, unique, and real. Just wow.
Makes me very sad now after seeing that

Simple ... it was dumbed down like every other game these days.
Now every idiot with an IQ of 60 can play it. Blood was removed so small kids are allowed to buy it (I guess the ability to move the body of a dead creature was killed for the same reason). The whole underwater experience was totally cut (why now aquarian race ?).

humm, i mean, i have no sound here at my workplace...but, the video looks as boring as the now released version. don't see the big difference (except the blood ofc)
and yes, after playing the game for roughly 5 - 6 hours it's dead.
the 5 - 6 hours weren't even that great, just "ok".

huh, i guess i really like this game
yeah, the space part is quite annoying with all the constant pirate raids (and i actually have a passive that makes them more rare ...) and ecobullshit..but still its a great game.
Actually i think that i've spent quite a time in the editor itself making vehicles and such
anyway..i play for some time in the final stage.. but i have a slight problem achieving the main 'quest'
Spoiler: | How to get to the center of the galaxy? I have a black hole that takes me quite close.. But there are the Borg.. i mean the Grox... and they are quite unfriendly.. Not to mention that the FTL drive has a tiny radius near the center and i can't jump nowhere at a point Advises? |

| Keep searching and you'll find "corridors" where the drive can barely take you in there...and by barely I mean the few systems are just on be border of your drive's capabilities.

What happened to the 2D platforming portion of the game? I thought you were supposed to run away from meteorites or something. Did I imagine that?

I actually like this game. Sure it has some flaws but those could be fixed. Smarter AI for example for the Tribe stage and up would be nice. The space stage would be great if more events could happen and if clicking on a distant star would just bring you there instead of clicking over and over. The engine upgrades could just cause the ship to choose farther ones to go to directly like it does now but automatic and take less energy and of course make the ship travel faster on the galaxy map.
Lets hope they patch it and add content with the patches as well.

I found the gameplay terribly repetitive and boring... this, coming from a guy who plays FPS daily. Think about that one for a few seconds.

u have try it online? being a singleplayer MMO naturally without the online it get boring | Have you even TRIED the game? ffs BOUNDLE, there is no online player vs player stuff in spore. You just download new creatures via the internet, that's it. So the only difference in having online capability and not having that is the variation of creatures/vehicles/buildings you see on your screen. That's it. No new functions, no added gameplay elements, no nothing.

So exactly why would your daily fps gaming be relevant to spore?? I think I know what you mean, fps - run around and kill and repeat...BUT you still cannot compare those games in any way imo.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

naturally i have tried it. while u are playing all the several contents created from you and from the others players (creatures but also plants, objects, buildings and vehicles), are all sent to a database center them. When then, in our game, you have to popular a planet as an example, if a logon to Internet is possessed, the game will automatically unload the necessary material from this database centers them, " polluting '' therefore the game with that of other players. The game however remains single-player: if in our game we extinguish a race unloaded from Internet, this race will not come cancelled from the database or from the game of the other player! There are also in the hand of the player some instruments, in order to know statistics of own creations (as an example in how many games has been unloaded own creature etc).
