Lol I was about to give up trying to make the game work when I finally chatted with Teniak on msn and he explained to me his timing trick (step 5 in his post) with the loading of the image and even if I was doubtful it actually works !
Playing the game right now, amazed at the lighting work, quite demanding game though, probably not very optimized even when patched to 1.5.0.4 and in bad need of antialiasing out-of-the-box : D
NB : Teniak's trick also works on Xp. No conflict with the localization files whatsoever.

whats going on with the scene. its obvious now u cant count on a game being cracked near release day. reloaded have suprised me recently and whats with vitality cracking obselete crap... man this sucks..

Confirmed, in-game traveling with the cracked bin directory for 1.5.0.4 is messed up. Using the guides work fine, but when you go to the transit point and you're asked if you want to travel to the next area, the pop-up box is messed up. It only shows one option, "Yes", instead of the usual "Yes/No", and pressing that won't let you travel.

OK, I need some advice. I am really wanting to play.. have all day off tomorrow so I can start tonight....or... Should I wait for US release or go for English translations and if so WHICH one?

Hey guy's,
My game crashes on the loading screen...
I can't even play, when i click new game choose the difficulty and etc... once the game starts loading it just shoots to desktop...
I was wondering if anybody else had this problem, and knew of a quick fix... also if you don't any tech guys on here that want it i have the log file in a zip contains all the crash data i think.

Dont use 1.5.0.4 - they solved the bug in sf by a trigger in the dll protection code. The english online version has 18 with solidshield vmed funtions as far as i can see. Wait for a good crack or dont go above 1.5.0.3.

Did anyone else notice that your suit doesn't actually protect you against the artifact radiation?
My stalker suit claims to give me a radiation protection of 9. Great. The artifact claims to give me a +2 to radiation, which would logically mean that my suit's protection falls to 7... right? Nope.
The fucking radiation just keeps climbing. Is that a bug or am I forced to acquire a goddamn jellyfish artifact for the -2 radiation bonus, which would effectively cancel out the other artifact's damage?

Two upgrades, gasmask with improved filters - should fix radiation (Both give +50%) but you won't be able to install NV googles.

Link to a mod compilation on the Russian section of the GSC forums, quite a few modifications and they'll even work on the English version aside from a few minor things.
(Don't replace localization.ltx as that will either turn everything back to Russian or if you use the English version it'll probably crash.)
There's quite a few unofficial fixes to scripts and such which is helpful for the 1.5.03 patch as it'll remove a few crash problems.

Because it uses a very tough copy-protection?
Granted a mini-image should be fully possible as TAGES can be emulated.
(Entire English localization file was uploaded to a torrent site a while ago, 200MB with voices and everything, so converting the Russian version to English isn't that difficult, just unpack the English 1.5.03 patch over the Russian version and remove the XRussian.db file then place the XEnglish.db file in the "localization" folder.)

Has anyone tried the PL version?
I know that it's not cracked but Iw as thinking of maybe getting the retail as well, but I can't find any patches that work with it. They all say that's it's the PL version and I'm trying to patch it with the EN version. O.o
Anyone tried?

Doesn't work as the image isn't proper, can't emulate the disc and thus verification fails.
And you can't use the English patch with the polish version.
(It'll give a error, can fix it via regedit but it'll probably break something if you force install it like that.)

There's a XPatch_01.db file in the patches folder after installation (Tried it as it includes English localization for voices albeit as I said there's a separate download for tat now.) so a few issues are fixed, however it's probably nowhere near the scope of the current working Russian 1.5.03 (Xpatch_03.db) patch.

It's a pain in the ass. I've finally managed to launch the game but english localization doesn't work. That's strange because even if I delete each and every file in the localization folder, game is still running normally in Russian.

you probably forgot to edit fsgame.ltx to $game_data$ = true
and also the correct path should be
stalker\gamedata\configs\text\eng
stalker\gamedata\configs\ui
and a localization.ltx in configs
