I found it made a huge difference. I have the VGA MS cable connceted to my 24" monitor and it looks sweet. Spotting snipers on BF:BC with ease. I had to take my box downstairs and stick it on my normal TV the other day and it looked horrible on the composite connection. I stuck it onto my TVs component which was better but still not as nice as my monitor.

It does make a great deal of difference. When i used to play on a SDTV, the cable made it fairly easy to read the text in Dead Risng.

The VGA cable is fucking intense!! There is simply no comparison to the SDTV connection and, on a decent monitor, rivals the quality of the HDMI connection too. Also, the VGA connection through a TV results in considerably less "jaggies" than HDMI connection.

That's true, though to be fair.. they've got a HUGE selection of possible resolutions under the VGA config. I think it would be exceptionally rare to have a monitor that doesn't have a listed/supported resolution.

"seems good"? LOL! It's the best feature to hit the 360 since DRM-less XBLA games! ^_^ I soooo can't wait for that feature! I'm looking forward to playing GTA4 without texture pop-in .. and Lost Odyssey without the teeth-grind'ingly annoying load times.

Erm.. Your HDMI settings are fucked.

You're essentially just comparing VGA and DVI. DVI is better, and always will be, fix your TV (turn off sharpness and edge enhancement on digital signals, they don't use/need them).

but anyway, yes, VGA on a 22 inch monitor looks great, even though the games only run at 1280x720, it kicks the shit out of 640x480i (downscaled).

Yea, upscaled to shit because the native res is 1024x768! That's a horrible TV to base any argument on.

Don't point to google and expect me to not call your bluff when you clearly don't know fuck all about the subject, you just know you saw your friends TV (which, judging by its capabilities, is going to look like shit at ANY HD resolution) and you liked it better on VGA.

And that's fine. But you're not saying you liked your friends TV on VGA.

You're saying VGA as a standard is better than HDMI/DVI. And it isn't, it's subject to interference, it's converted so there is some noticeable signal loss, it can cause flicker on some colors, colors often bleed onto nearby pixels, all of these problems were conquered when DVI became the new standard.

I've seen no "flicker on colours" nor have I seen "colours often bleeding onto nearby pixels" You're stating something as fact and yet there is ZERO evidence to back it up. There may be issues on lower quality monitors, but even then -- according to many sources - there's no difference to the naked eye. It's like trying to find the quality increase from 1080i to 1080p.

It's the same bullshit argument all over again that we had when PCI-E came out to replace AGP. AGP x8 wasn't saturated enough to warrant a new interface, but one was created anyway -- and then there's people like you that claim to SEE the speed difference between the two, just as you claim to see the difference between VGA and DVI.

There is no fucking difference unless you're using a POS monitor, in which case; boo fucking hoo. Upgrade, bitch.

There are no discernible differences between VGA and DVI on *my* monitor, so why the fuck should I listen to you?

heres an idea, how about both of you shut the hell up and go find another thread to cry at each other in. If it was such a "stupid argument" then why did you prolong it and knock my thread up to 2 pages of useless fucking bullshit.

Kinda strange it took MS this long...

But on the other hand as long as you can afford a 360 I guess you can afford a decent 32" LCD.
Very cheap here at least.

It depends on the monitor. Some monitors have absolutely lousy DPI scaling and only look their best at their native resolution. Wait until the fall and see what happens when you can use your native res.

Well, generally (but not always) 360(and PS3 titles for that matter) titles don't have more than 2xAA.

The reason you don't see jaggies on a regular TV is because the image is downscaled (shrunk) thus making it look a lot smoother. Games always run at 720p (well, except MGS4 and Halo4, 640p).

Now that you're seeing them at their native res you can see that they in fact, don't have antialiasing. Mind you there are games that mimic AA really well (Force Unleashed).

I think the reason they did this (aside from, yknow, the whole antialiasing raping graphics cards thing) is because they don't expect you to sit 2 feet in front of your television.

When I play Bad Company on my TV I'm usually sitting 8 feet away on my couch, looks pretty smooth at that distance. When I sit right up in front of the TV or use the X360 VGA cable with my PC monitor I can clearly tell the game is jaggy as hell.
.
