I found a pretty decent Zombie MMO I thought you guys may like to try out.

It is flashed based., but it has some pretty damned good graphics for a flashed based game. It plays like Shadowgrounds.
It still a work in progress, but pretty playable as it is. Worth a look.

It's an interesting game and I was happy to see that the dev kept his promise of releasing an MMO version of it (the original game is a bunch of singleplayer chapters, very good ones too) however it's killed by two things;

A. The difficulty. Oh yeah, this game is fucking harder than titanium nails. Good luck actually finding anything when you search.

B. Purchases in-game can only be made with REAL LIFE money. There are no NPC stores or anything, so if you need ammo/medkits/weapons you have to either trade with another player or pay REAL CASH for them. Big fucking killer for a very-beta game where you positively *need* the items to survive.

Ah. Thats too bad. I didn't play it long enough to see that last detail. However, I did actually find stuff from what little I did play.

I would be really stoked if someone made a real current gen MMO out of that genre.

Likewise! Left 4 Dead sounds ok, but I'm a bit hesitant about the whole coop-only idea .. as the internet is full of fucktard kids Rolling Eyes

I found a bunch of ammo and a pistol, that's it - and I spent ages searching.

Don't bother fighting the zombies, you can't win. They respawn every few seconds and you'll just end up wasting all your ammo on them.

You complain about difficulty and player driven economy? TBH the game isn't that difficult just takes some time to find anything decent ( and you need to know where to look) and yes NPC stores would make sense when money has no value....

Yes, I complain.

I don't like having to pay REAL MONEY for items, call me crazy >_> As for the difficulty, well bully for you. Glad you're enjoying it.

You don't have to pay real money for items. try go and loot some bodies and what you don't need trade. Actually the game isn't that hard, yes it's obviously hard in the beggining but with a armor and a decent weapon things get alot easier unless you run out to the deepest places because then it doesn't matter.

Why didn't you just say from the start you want to start out with the best weapons and armor... It's an online game, it has progression obviously you can't get rich in the first two hours, how fun would that be? Be happy you found a pistol that early, alot of people haven't been that lucky.

Oh my fucking GOD, can you hear yourself!? "Be happy it took two hours to find a means to defend yourself"??

What are you, the developer? Did I hurt your feelings with my criticism?

No I just find it funny that you complain about a harder difficulty and a player driven economy, two things most people miss with todays games.

@AKofC yes spending money on game items might be stupid I don't have a problem with it though. However the game is free so they have to get money somehow, see it like a donation.

Yeah, because player-run economies are always soooooooo infallible, honest. You're wasting your time because you're not going to suddenly convince me that "Oh wait, I'm an idiot.. I SHOULD just accept that I can't defend myself ingame unless I pay the exorbitant sum asked for by the players"

Yeah, that'll work. It sure worked for every other online RPG in history, seriously.

As for "donating" just to get some ammo or a weapon? That's fucking preposterous! Even the free Korean MMOs don't do shit like that!

Im sure you started out with some kind of weapon, im 99% sure all different jobs starts out with some kind of weapon and if they don't they start out with enough money to buy a cheap weapon. You don't need tons of weapons in the beggining and if you really wanna make some fast cash just go out 20-25 blocks and do some searching, you might die unless your careful but you should still be able to find some good food and ammo you can sell for a decent amount of cash. Im not trying to convince you anything I just want you to understand that just because the game mechanics are a bit different than what you want doesn't mean they are bad.

Thank you! I respect THAT post! It's always better to have an objective argument with a solution -- then an outright insult or flame. I apologise if I was being overly hostile.

I tried what you said, but whether it's because of beta or not - I had absolutely NO luck finding anything. I didn't find food either and now my character is dying of HUNGER. What else was I supposed to do? I found $58 in my 2.5hrs of searching -- and that's not enough to buy ANYTHING off this player-run economy. Every player charges exorbitant amounts for the smallest of purchases.

No problem I don't see much point in starting flame wars, just trying to give my point of view. However I find it kind of weird that you have had that much problems getting some items, I had a slow start but it quickly picked up in pace then again I haven't played the game for a while so it's possible they have made it even slower than it was but I somehow doubt that. If you are still interested in the game I can give you some cash so you can afford a better gun or whatever it is you need, haven't played for a while so my cash is just rotting in the bank.

Nah, I'm not a beggar Smile Never have been in any online game, I really DO prefer to make my own way.. I just found it incredibly restrictive in Dead Frontiers. The sum total of my acquired loot, after 2.5hrs, was a pistol -- 38 rounds of ammo -- and roughly $50-60 dollars in cash. I also got my ass handed to me far too many times by the sheer amount of zombies that surround you as you get further in.

The hunger/thirst situation didn't help either. Sad

I don't know how you play but from my experience killing zombies + looting is rarely a good solution. The more zombies you kill the more aggro you build which means you will be attacked by more zombies and faster ones so if you are out to try and find items try not to kill as many zombies while doing so.

Oh I know that (painful experience) - so I tended to avoid them, but the deeper you go into the city, the more of them there are .. and they faster and stronger too.

I always disliked the idea of a real money ='s in game money. Its unfair as one could just pop into the virtual world and be one of the richest players instantly with out any work at all. How does this represent a real economy? It doesn't even make any logical sense that one day I could be poor in the game and then magically have cash another with out any in game action. You can't use the excuse of inheritance in the game as that would fail to explain how I was poor in the past as surely my recently dead relative would have given me something to live on especially during a zombie apocalypse like in this game before their death. If I was cared enough to be in the will surely I would be cared enough to be helped during those events.

That leads to me another thing. How does any modern economy other than fit this game exactly? How many of you would care about money during a zombie apocalypse? I wouldn't trade a bottle of water for a million dollars in such a scenario. What good would money be anymore? The only ways of getting new supplies would be to either barter with other survivors , scavenging , or stealing or taking it from other survivors. Scavenging would no doubt be the #1 way The supplies would mean everything while money would cease to have value.

What a great way to fuck up a game.

Sorry for the double post but this may never get noticed otherwise...

I've been playing out of being so damn board and picked soldier as my class though I am sure I will regret it later on because of the -15% exp but whatever. Anyways I have over 600 9MM that I can't use as my Pistol uses .32 anyone who plays this want the ammo for free? Also I have a bunch of healing items that seem to be doctor only so if you happen to be a doctor as well even better.

Well this is fun, heh. Looks like DeadFrontier.net doesn't exist anymore .. it's a placeholder-stroke-cybersquatter page. DeadFrontier.com is still up, but the link to the game is for DeadFrontier.net.

I'm lvl 10 now and decided to go into the harder zone which I guess people call it yellow zone on the game. Doesn't seem to be much harder other than some zombies were fast and spawned faster. Loot was good though. Guess I'll try to make it to the red zone tonight.
