I still think they'll implement it at some point. Hell, it was most likely cut from the game (just like the foliage editor) for use in an expansion, heh.

i don't get how land monsters will be able to attack flying one's, except if he lands.. but that means he's invulnerable when airborne

I was just about to type that. You create creatures with hands or grasping appendages, which could be used for weapons and throwing missiles.

Two problem with all that is your assuming every creature has hands... One of my creatures is a giant ant who would have no way of defeating something that flies unless its forced to land in combat or has a stamina bar that depletes fast.

The second problem is your also assuming that your creatures would have weapons to use by the time they encounter flying creatures.

But that's just my point .. it's called evolution. If your creature isn't equipped to handle the environment and rival creatures, he'll die. That's life and, I presume, is exactly what Will Wright has in mind.

I dunno, dude, but game designers figure out these sorts of problems for a living. I'm sure that they're capable of coming up with a fair solution.

I do not believe there are any creatures that can permanently fly.

You have a point but however its not 100% either. Many creatures avoid extinction not by being able to fight or escape a predator but rather just having mass numbers by large amounts of offspring that mature quickly. Most insects for example fit this.

Also lets face it in real life just because a creature could fly and is a predator doesn't mean it would mess with all grounded creatures even if it could successfully attack some and avoid getting hurt itself. I doubt you'll ever see a hawk ever try to attack and plan on making a bear dinner. They normally eat things up to rabbits. However you know this game would allow the hawk sized bird to attack and defeat the bear type creature if it can simply just fly around and quickly swoop down over and over.

My giant ant would also be a great example of this. Its very large and a bird similar to that which exists in real life would have no chance of actually killing it. How on earth would a small beak break through the exoskeleton ? While the ant would be totally helpless when it comes to attacking back if the bird avoids the head of the ant the bird would simply not be able to do any real damage to the ant and would just tire itself out and be forced to retreat (remember I am not speaking about a giant bird). But the game doesn't really put that into effect and we all know it comes down to stats in the game and not common sense. Because of this factor I really don't see flying creatures being possible to balance.

One last note what would stop the flying creatures learning and making weapons of their own? Shooting a enemy from the sky with a bow and arrow for example. How on heck would anything defend against that?

I think you're forgetting something critical.. the game has evolutionary stages, right from the inception all the way through to SPACE TRAVEL. As I said, I don't know they'll be adding flying creatures, but there sure is enough demand for it and we all know Maxis; they loooooove their expansion packs Razz

Yes it's a new patch for the Spore Creature Creator, that small applications launched a while ago to get people started on creating new creatures.

Nothing major but some fixes and new functions. Smile

I don't think it'll work but I'm unsure since I don't have the program installed at the moment.
(Perhaps one could just take that cracked Paul.dll and replace the patched one, might not work though.)

Will Wright gives his opinion about the more explicit Spore creatures that various users have created.

it will be a funny inusually game anyway to play online more of all like trackmania for example. sporepedia work only online. it will have again an other securom with activation crap and i will go to buy it anyway soon or later also cause i don't like that no one make something to make work all patches that will be out for it. for me will be out many and many patches like addons. expansions, DLC and fixing bug. is already something if someone will make at the time when it come out a working crack to make start it for all

If its fun and decently innovative, SPORE will last a good long time.

It wont be like an MMO at all. You will just get creatures others have created via online. There won't be any kind of player to player interaction from my understanding.

It's a massive multiplayer offline game, all the content created by the players get uploaded to the site, the game choses what to download to populate your galaxy.

OMFG you never learn? don't you?

Wiki wrote:
Spore is a multi-genre "massive single-player online game" by Maxis and designed by Will Wright. It allows a player to control the evolution of a species from its beginnings as a unicellular organism, through development as an intelligent and social creature, to interstellar exploration as a spacefaring culture. It has drawn wide attention for its massive scope, and its use of open-ended gameplay and procedural generation.

how care about trolling Laughing
Write (and no i) just have told that game is just a hybrid before a offline singleplayer game and a online multiplayer game. so anyway it have a online mode and in online it could be become a MMO. it's similar to trackmania and without the possibility to make many thing online it will sucks enough

So you got bored in the AiTD and BCR thread and now you're gonna troll the Spore thread. Great.

Members of Nforce, report him please! We can't even understand his babelfish english and still it's annoying as fuck. We're not discussing protections in this threads in a rational way, He just keep derailing all threads.

We just got rid of Npiracy (I think), he was a poetic troll this one is a retarded troll.
