Rather see yearly releases of games than half-yearly releases of shit.

the whole reason to make episodes was the time it would take to develop, I dont know how long we are waiting for Episode 3 but that is much longer already, and we havent even heard from it, contents etc
I am beginning to worry what is taking them so long, the episodes they released arent that long to play anyway

and the graphic... i dont care about fucked/bugged up high-end engines like Crysis...
CryTec need to learn something about optimization... Valve definitely know something about that...

At least L4D is here. That would give me something to do until ep3.

There goes the idea of having shorter development times with episodes...

My guess would be that it's taking them so long because they are seriously updating the source engine. That would also explain why we haven't seen any screenshots or trailers while the first trailer for Episode 2 was integrated into Episode 1 and shown after the game ended.
I'm not hung up about a game's visuals, but an EP3 that is released in 2010 and looks like HL2 would be really disappointing. If that's not the reason for the delay then it must be down to incompetence, I mean cmon, it's just an addon.

WTF would an update be good for in 2010? The game will be 6 years old by then, there won't be much to update... It will still look bad.
Valve makes great games, but they REALLY need to get their heads out of their asses...

What would it be good for? The same thing the Unreal Engine 3 was good for when it replaced its predecessor. They didn't create a new engine from scratch but improved upon what they already had. The same should be possible with the Source Engine, since it got a solid base and components such as physics and AI elements that are still pretty much up to speed. They already introduced HDR lighting, which was good, but they have to step it up a notch or Epic and Id Software will leave them very far behind very fast.

I don't understand. If you're pining for the episode to be released that must mean you rate their previous efforts, right, so why then do you not trust them to do the right thing and make Episode 3 in their own time, at their own pace and to the same level of standard (if not greater). Why does it matter how long it takes if you know they are going to release it eventually and likely to great fanfare. This isn't 3DRealms.

If I remember rightly, Valve actually have a team dedicated to working on the Source engine at all times.
