Publisher: Idea Games
Developer: Bohemia Interactive & Black Element
Genre: Vehicle simulation;RTS
Release date: Spring 2010
Story/Description:

Quote:
The game’s story centers on a crew waking from a thirty-year hibernation in the middle of a war raging from Earth to humanity's first colony in another solar system.

You are the commander of a near-future aircraft carrier of immense power, with many tools and vehicles at your disposal. Landing in an unfamiliar, free-roaming environment, exploration will be key and the thrill of discovery will spur you onward.

The colony planetoid of Taurus is a pivotal battleground in the United Earth Coalition (UEC)'s long campaign against the rogue Asian Pacific Alliance (APA), who gained dominion over Earth in an apocalyptic conflict. The wide oceans of Taurus are dotted with resource-rich islands of varying composition and hiding many secrets.
Battle Over Air, Land and Sea
Exciting first-person action and true strategic play combine to deliver a complete experience like no other.

Fight For Control Of Taurus
Traverse the seas to establish a network of island bases for defense, mining and manufacturing. Keep a steady supply of resources to push your campaign forward.

Think Fast
Every island is a new battleground requiring new tactics. Disrupt your enemy's supply lines at their weakest points, but be careful not to leave your own logistics network vulnerable to attack.

Expand Your Capabilities
Explore freely and complete dynamic missions to find new technology and weapons, until you are strong enough to defeat the enemy carrier.

If they're starting to promote it now, it's because they're low on funds, which means it's likely we'll never see this.

Nah, read it was because they got the "seal of approval" by the original devs..

No matter though, long while before release, alot can happen before then! Razz

If you liked Carrier Command then definitely check out Hostile Waters (2001). Was one of the best games I'd ever played at the time of it's release. Although it's definitely showing it's age now, nostalgia tells me it would still be fun to play.

Have to agree with AnimalMother there. Hostile Waters was also a superb totally underrated game with a few twists. Really enjoyed it and one of the few games i played to the end.

Hope the gameplay will stay the same and this game will be a total blast !

Launching my nasty Mantas again, woot !

About Carrier Command:
Multiplatform
New multiplatform engine ("It is not easy to bring Arma 2 technology to consoles, it is very complex, and just too big.")
SP only, for now
There will be some mod support, but limited compared to Arma 2

About Take On Helicopters:
Full mod support
Based on Arma 2
Mission editor

Wow thanks for mentioning Hostile Waters.Bought it years ago on the bargain rack and never got around to playing it.I loaded it up along with the 1.03 patch.Works perfectly on Windows 7 X64.What a gem.No need to use a slow down program or anything. You gotta love when older games run without needing any tweaks.I am really liking it!

Right on. Great story and soundtrack. And those pilots, they really seemed to have personality. Antaeus: hostile waters.

Looking forward to this new carrier command too, they promise a lot, hope they can deliver.

4 years on, there's talk of a beta mission... They don't seem to keen on keeping their customers up to date though.

Yes, BIS don't usually hype much of their products.
And in this case they never have given much information. But I think the date of release is approaching.

I've got high hopes for this one, the physics demo looks good, and carrier command is one of my old favourites.
Like you say a release date hopefully will be 2012. With this and legend of grimrock I'll be a very happy boy..
