To clarify something. If someone gets the AHU version, do they have to do any fixing? I heard someone say you have to use the APE fix. Is the APE fix the only thing? and is the APE fix a 2k exe with these instructions?

1. extract hl2fix.exe to x:\yourhalflife2dir\hl2\bin\
2. run hl2fix.exe

TIA

If you had been bothered to read the thread you would have seen this long ago and even multiple times................

And you dont have to write protect the autoexec file. It's purpose is that you shuld be able to add your own commands. So obviously it wont overwite your changes.

yes, i don't read all threads
anyway
thx for the extra tips pallebrun Smile

That is the APE fix, and that is what I have heard you use to get AHU version running.

fix the AI disabled in ANY release by creating a autoexec.cfg in X:\xxxxx\hl2\cfg and adding ai_norebuildgraph 1 in it.

PostPosted: Sun, 21st Nov 2004 06:25    Post subject: My own fixes
Ok, after seeing all this haggling, I made a pack full of fixes, that should solve every problem, with every release, as of now. It includes the launcher file from emporio, Real and emporio bin files, the autoexec.cfg to fix the ai problem (note That my brew of bin files might have fixed that problem, so using that is redundent possibly), the fixed hl2.exe, and the fixed client.dll by APE. After I screwed around with all these things for a while, and then decided to try some combinations with the root\bin files, I finally found something that worked. Note - The AHU release is probally just what I did here, and They should give credit where it belongs to APE and emporio, because I doubt they made the cracked bin files that emporio did. By installing this pack, your GUI will also act like normal now to Smile. If you want this pack I made either contact me, or do this -

Download the things I mentioned up there, put them in their correct places. Somehow get your hands on the ORIGINAL steam bin files from the sourceengine.gcf. If you replace all the bin files from any release with the real ones, the only non-real ones left should be steam.dll and steamy.dll from emporio. Then just use the launcher.exe to launch the game. If you do not want to do all this, contact me on EFNET, Mchart. Once again, yes, the GUI is fixed by doing this.

I also want to add, that my fix may possibly fix the AI bugs, without using the .cfg file. Even though I included that in the fix pack, it may be not needed. So if you download it, post back to see if my arrangement of bin files fixed that as well.

Okay... I've read forums 'till my eyes started bleeding...

Can someone please make a sticky with a list of HL2 releases that are out there and known issues and fixes for them?

As it stands I have NO IDEA what version to grab. I'm d/l'ing the AHU version, but that apperantly also needs the APE fix and gets you stuck by an elevator...

But, the others have 5-6 other bugs from inactive AI to bad HUD...

What to do... Where to go...

*subs quietly in a corner*

I really should save myself the grief and just buy it, but I refuse to give valve money for inventing steam.

Download any version, and try my compilation of fixes. It DOES fix GUI, and fixes AI problems with the .cfg file, and possibly may not need that .cfg file to fix it.

The "NODE GRAPH REBUILDING" is quite annoying, but sometimes I need it!
In Black Mesa east (after the long Waterlevel) Dr. Moosman wont go into the elevator, if it was turned off... (AI still enabled)

I just added -heapsize 512000 to the .exe, behind the -no steam -console parameters. (half your Ram) Forces the game to use more ram, default is only 64000.

Ok, but where exactly add this?
When I add this as parameter to launch.exe file, in the main menu when you press ~ it still says "Heap: 64MB"
Or I have to write it in cfg file (which?)?

I found that info about 2 days ago on this forum:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=833301&page=5&pp=20&highlight=sound+click
(last post on this page)
It says to add it as launch option to HL2 but under steam.

(I have HL2 Emporio Proper 1,4gb)

Emporio - 4GB to download, then you need to add fix manualy
Proper Emporio - 1,4GB (3,3GB after decompression), better compression, removed useless stuff, fix already added,
AXPI - I dunno, quite similiar to Proper Emporio??
