So I've been talking a girl who TOLD me she was 19. I met her online a while ago and we'd just been chatting off and on when I was at work overnight. Now I'm 21, and I don't think that age difference is inappropriate in the least. We'd been sending pictures back and forth, nothing TOOOOO risque. She sent an underwear picture and a schoolgirl dressup picture, but no nudity or anything.
Everythings going GREAT until about 10 minutes ago, an email, shows up, in my inbox, "THIS IS NOT A WARNING. I AM SENDING YOUR EMAILS TO MY UNDERAGE DAUGHTER TO THE POLICE". I think, okay shes fucking with me. Then I respond apologizing and that I will cease and desist just in case. "SHE IS NOT 19 SHE IS 17. I DO NOT EXPECT ANY MORE EMAILS. UNDERSTAND?". So now I'm sitting here fucking shaking. I mean, granted what we were doing wasn't all that bad and I couldn't really get arrested for it as it was just really harmless flirting, but even still, I went ghost white for a second like, my life is over before the logic kicked in. I respond back expressing my utmost apologies and that I have taken the necessary precautions to not speak to her any longer.
I'm not even sure the level of my wrong here, anyone care to comment? Like was I in the wrong? Did I let it go too far? Obviously she was in the wrong by lying about her age... and leading me on... I dunno, I'm kind of going for a spin on this one.
Also, does anyone know the legalities of this? Nothing but sexual discussion, flirting and non-nude pictures.. I must seem like a creep, but I really believed she was 19...

So its either logged on her end or nothing.. but even still, it seems that we weren't breaking any laws...
As for the difference between 17 and 15.. its pretty much indistinguishable in terms of the law...
She's also from the US, and I'm in Canada... |

Nothing to worry about then.  You'd only probably be in trouble if she had sent you nude pics and you put them publicly on the internet. That's considered child pronography. |

Ya she is underage because she under 19 but I think in Canada 17 is legal. I don’t know what the law is regarding her being from the US. Plus you never even met her.
I would of sent a message back saying. “I won’t contact the little liar again. Control and parent your underage brat” Well that is what I would of liked to of said but it just would pissed the parents off. The girl needs net nanny.
I say if the IRL girl is young ID her. Ask her outright for her licence.

Did that once to a girl at a party, she was 16, ( i was 19 at the time ).
Consentual sex is 18 in the states i think.
I doubt there are any real rooted parenting issues. She's 17, pretending to be older, flirting with an older guy, looking for validation, and hell, she's probably almost 18. Seems pretty normal for a young girl these days |

In Canada "legal age" is a paltry 14. This is no joke, and feel free to look it up. Trust me on this one, as sick as it is it's true. I do not like our current Government, but they have some things right. They want to have a sliding scale for consentual sex, something along the lines of if you're within 5 years of the person (and under the age of majority) it would be ok. However I think they will just raise the age to 16 where it was before the liberals reduced it.

As if any teenage girl would allow that. Whatever the case, you better off staying away
from her.
As for the legality I'm not sure, but one thing I do know is that ignorance is not a defence.
'I thought/she said she was 19' really doesn't help when things have gone beyond chatting, etc.

In the netherlands we have culpa and dolus. Dolus means it was on perpose, wich cannot be so when she said she was 19. You can still be charged with the culpa variant of the crima, wich means guilt. However such an innocent conversation is nothing to worry about.

Its a real bad idea to do any of this online anyways. The chances that the girl is underage and lying is way to great. I doubt you will get into any legal trouble from this but I wouldn't keep pushing your luck if I was you.

In Canada, the legal age for sex is 16 anyway. So your allowed to do what you want since she's 17. Its her choice, not her parents. they may not like it, but there is nothing they can do about it.
So dont worry man. Even if you fucked her, as long as she didnt scream rape, then your ok. Like i said, the legal age is 16.

Yeah, but it won't hold into court, or it would be misdemeanor, mainly for failing to check ID or something, and not for being a sex offender. |

She sent me an email saying she was drunk, passed out, and her dad came in her room early in the morning and had left her email open. He forwarded it to himself etc.
I thought she was fucking w/ me at first, but he had quoted all the emails in his, so he replied to it as a forward...
Anywho, yea NuclearShadow, its not like I'd go any farther than just fucking around with emails and msn and such. I meet girls in the area just fine, but it was just fun online too I guess? Something to do @ work when I'm tired.

Do i have to pull up some teen pregnancy statistics of the countries with age 18 for age of consent?
Glad i live in belgium where 24 yo can date 16 yo and everyone is fine with it
