Nope that compression is pretty much dead on.. I compressed the EMP release of HL2 from the install size of 4.1gb to 1.8gb compressed with WinACE v2.5 4096k dictionary size+optimized folders. Damn.. Nice compression!! I could probably stretch it more if the dictionary size was more elaborate but thats still damn fine. EMP should have just compressed it with one of the main file archivers out there.

hi i just installed the axpi version and everything seems to work fine but sometimes the characters seems to have a shaky leg im not sure if its a bug or its because of my settings. If a character stands in front of me then the textures of their legs shivers.
AMD Athlon 3200+
512 RAM
Radeon 9800 Pro
Catalyst 4.12 beta
Thanks!!

That's interesting. Wouldn't it be nice if everything got compressed this much? I once got a PS2 game that was decently compressed but that was the only time.

by rip games its possible but not for iso releases because of the original setup the producers always compress the files using useless cab compression then if you use winace afterwards it doesn't decrease the size anymore because of the sucky cab compression game developers or publishers, should use winace instead of cab compression.

I tried both. Emporio worked only when I disabled access to the net, this version works without trying to connect to Steam.
Haven't played much, but I couldn't find anything wrong with it.
It is also smaller and I noticed there is no cstrike folder, while Emporio has it.

Ok, I'm a little confused when you talk about steam, you don't mean that you can play this game with Steam and use multiplayer, correct? It's just that steam created the game, right? how do I block access out to steam?
Thanks

Still had AI problems with this release (also when setting the date back) until I did this:

Power meter still stays red, didn't see the secondary ammo counter yet

fix the AI disabled in ANY release by creating a autoexec.cfg in X:\xxxxx\hl2\cfg and adding ai_norebuildgraph 1 in it.
For those who didnt know.. =)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 RAM: 4gb Kingmax DDR2 800mhz Video: Asus GeForce 250GTS 1gb Sound: Asus Xonar.

Hi all, im a little stuck with getting this to work, whenever i try to launch the game by double clicking hl2 exe i get the following message:
''Failed to load the Launcher DLL
The specified module could not be found''
But when i go into the half life 2 'bin' folder there is a launcher.exe already present?
anyone else got around this problem.
any help appreciated.
