Shit, im in huge trouble. Was playing a game, then boom, blue screen. Now whenever i start the comp hangs on start up right where the mobo logo is displayed and it promts me to press shit (wich doesnt work). My comp was configured with 2 main drives in RAID. Is there any way to extract the data from RAID drives? I tried using WD's book thingy and i can see the drive, but it tells me i need to format it. So again, is there any way to extract the data or Im royally fucked. It wouldnt be such a huge deal but i need important docs on those drives.
Thanks.
You would usually hook those two drives to another computer, and third disk that's large enough to hold the recovered array, and then start using raid recovery software. If it's worth money to you, you can send the disks to a recovery firm.
Can't get into safe mode either using F8 or whatever works on your mobo?
Assuming it's XP, boot up from your installation disc. You might have to change your boot order in the bios. From the installation menu you can perform a repair installation which should reinstall your system files but leave your data files intact.
Nope. It tells me that my RAID has failed and it cant boot. I followed your intrusctions, but when i select to install windows, it tells me that no drives are found (its normal, you have to load drivers when installing the RAID drives). No idea what to do, i guess i'll redo that stuipd assignment
thanks for the try either way.
Sig too big. -Nothing is too big for Fedor. Expect a nasty armbar.
Ha, i believe it was stripped raid. Two identical HD's were shared for RAID. Yeah, now i agree with you Mort, no more fuckingn around with RAIDS and what not, will do a normal install next time.
