Sure, i've been there a couple of times, not much at it is nearly 600km from here...

It depend to what you're used to, but the nightlife is great, the beaches are crowded, mostly with foreigners, but they're beautiful, the water is warm and the landscapes are nice.

It's one of the most 'elitist' spots in Portugal, VIP's and such all gather there, along with wealthy people, it's one of the most expensive places around (at least for us, foreigners find it rather acessible)

I'd recomend you to try the places around, there's great beaches (if you're into it) in Algarve, i have go go out now, but if you're interested, i'll be back in a couple of hours and give you a more extensive guide/update.

Wink

OK, here's some more stuff

Like xtralong said, it's really hot here, but the weather has been a little unstable, i hope you get lucky, anyhow:

The southern regions of Portugal (Alentejo and Algarve) are best known for having great vacation spots, Algarve is the most famous, the beaches do not compare to others around the country, Alentejo has come incredible ones too. If it wasn't for the distance i'd always roam south to spend the vacations.

I don't know if you'll have travel means available, but there's plenty of public transportation if you want to travel around. I'd advise you to use buses, taxis are damn expensive.

About nightlife, there's plenty of cities with shitloads of bars and discos spread across the streets, most you enter, chat, dance, and you don't have to pay anything. Then there's the bigger discos like Kadoc (Albufeira), Locomia (Albufeira) and plenty more. Prices range a lot, some bars charge you 2€ for a beer, some can charge you 5€. Minimum consumption of some of the bigger discos can reach 30€.

About the beaches, i've got this great guide to Algarve, which came along with a magazine, i'll transcribe the interesting parts, you can google for images or more info:

Deserted beaches: Ilha deserta (Faro) ; Vale Figueira (Aljezur) ; Barriga (Vila do Bispo)

Beaches with the best views: Camilo (Lagos) ; Marinha (Lagoa); Odeceixe (Aljezur) ; Ponta Ruiva (Vila do Bispo) ; Albandeira (Lagoa)

Beaches to avoid: Inatel (Albufeira) ; Quarteira (Loulé) ; Praia da Rocha (Portimão)

Having a drink at night: Amo.te Pine Cliffs (Albufeira) ; Bugatti (Almancil) ; Dromedario and Agua Salgada (Sagres) ; Columbus (Faro) ; Le Club (Santa Eulália)

About these beaches to avoid, they're wether too crowded, or it's difficult to park, personally i love Quarteira and specially Praia da Rocha, its superb.

I've got the GPS coordinates to all these places if you're interested.

About acommodations, no problem if you'll be staying at an hotel, if you're planning on going camping, i'd phone first and check for vacancies. There's an excellent park in Albufeira, with bungalows, and they're not very expensive.

For shopping, there are some malls spread around, you might have to travel a bit.
If you want to save some money on food, i recommend you shop in Lidl, Dia or Minipreço.

I don't remember much more that can be useful, enjoy the fish Smile, sunbathe a lot, have fun, and so on, anything more, just beep...
