As I love history and stuff I was checking some site on Romans in Brittain and came across the Channel 4 series "Time Team" with Tony Robinson (plays the character Baldric in Black Adder).
Its on its 11th season, so its been running for quite some time. I guess some of our Britt guys here might know the series.

The concept is to dig real archeological sites based on findings from locals that have found coins or other stuff in their back gardens, or other historical clues that makes it worthwhile to start a dig. The catch...they always have only 3 days to do it. Sounds a bit opportunistic maybe, but they have a real big team of real specialists that always sees that the dig is documented in the right ways etc.

They cover basically all of the periods of english history

Bronze Age (c2300-700 BC)
Iron Age (c700 BC-43 AD)

The Roman occupation (43 AD-c410)

The 'Dark Ages' and the Anglo-Saxons (c410-1066)

The medieval era/Middle Ages (1066-1485)

Tudor England (1485-1603)

The Stuarts (1603-1714)

The Georgian Era (1714-1837)

Industrial Britain

20th century

I would not says that this series is for everybody, but if you are in to history, its a really cool show.

It might be hard to get at, but its out there.

It's a good serie - used to be on discovery. shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Surprisingly, some of the archeology birds on their team are damn attractive! Makes watching it even more pleasant.
