Not all multi-key combinations are possible on a keyboard due to the standards on which they are made. I remember not being able to properly hit a free-kick with all the possible tricks on the keyboard since after pressing 3 or more particular keys at the same time the input would just be ignored and I'd get a beep from the PC's speaker.

I don't know if the keys used in DMC4 cause that effect, but that's one reason some complex games are unplayable, along with lack of analogic sensitivity.

So I replaced the file called bt000.sngw (which is the main battle song) with one that suits my taste more. It's in x:\\Devil May Cry 4\nativePC\sound\bgm\battle\source
I used The Fall of Troy - Mouths like Sidewinder Missiles, it's awesome! Almost forgot, they're actually .ogg files, so you can convert your song from mp3 to ogg then delete the ogg part and add "sngw", without the " ". Might have been posted before...

those are power ups which may contain some blue orb fragments or simply red orbs, u have to achieve certain style by hitting them like A or S etc to break them
blue ones for Nero, red ones for Dante, they are optional btw and this does not contain anything related to storyline or game progress so spoiler tag is unnecessary Wink

all the talk, and actually almost nothing said about the gameplay & game itself..

starting from the graphics... amazingly good and not heavy in the same time, very nice character details (trish & gloria <3 ). I like the fact that alt-tabing is easy and fast (not like some other crappy "next gen" blurry engines like the Unreal III shit). Nice open environments. I do hope to see some others game with this engine- (it will be very well suited for an action RPG a la Diablo Smile )

for the gameplay..
i play on devil hunter with keyboard.. it's not a big philosophy tho i suck and have C-D scores mostly, but there is one thing i hate- and that's the camera, i've played DMC 3, and the camera was not even close to the user-unfriendliness here... The stupid camera was the reason not to find a certain spiral stairway at the beggining for like 40 min... just because the view was centered on a giant crack on the floor. Another moments is when the static camera view changes when going to another place and the control inputs are inversed for a while, so if you are pressing forward at the next camera view you are going the opposite direction- falling dawn a cliff...

another think i HATE is the lack of variety of the environment- basically there are about 5-6 giant maps, that are played from point A to B, from B to C , from C to A... and D for bosses.. And it really gets frustrating to walk the same zone twice (or more)

the monster variety is not so good as well but i can live with it (i'm at lvl 15 now..)... And i think i liked more the environment of DMC III (still can't forget the leviathan level) The boss encounters are spectacular, and the action is extremely intense..

and just another thing to yawn at- the secret missions- most of them are way to hard even if they look easy..and they almost made me shift +del the game...

so overall the game is pretty.. with fast but repeatable action decorated with some frustrating elements.. 6,9/10 Rolling Eyes

I had some random crashes (usually in cinematics) with everything maxed out. I changed shadows to high instead superhigh and everything goes ok. Playing 1680x1050 dx9, with a 8800gt 512 and X2 5600+.

This game is awesome.Trying to get to the bloody castle but don´t have much time to play Sad .

well actually there are keys associated with camera turning that work well in some places like corridors but there are many places where they do nothing..

Has anyone unlocked Legendary Dark Knight mode? I read somewhere that it fills every level with a huge amount of enemies, instead of the first three scarecrows you have to fight there's like 30... Sounds cool for some Smokin' Sick Style Very Happy

I used the trainer from cheathappens just to see what other difficulty levels there are and some of them do seem quite crazy such as Heaven and Hell or the Hell And Hell difficulty which seems to be one hit one kill.
(Or the 101 levels of the bloody palace, toughest boss ever.)

THX, I'll try just that. But it's quite weird that the game crashes because of the quality of shadows... I'm running the game using the first rig from the sig andits working perfectly, everything maxed out and 1680x1050 with no less than 50-60 fps. And this crash was my only problem with the game...

If someone has a problem with DMC4 and AMD Dual Core, he should try to download and install "Amd Dual Core Optimizer"

It's the 3rd here :
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_9706,00.html
AMD Dual-Core Optimizer

It solves a bug with AMD/Windows XP

Since I've installed it, I have no more problems (you can also try to limit FPS at 60 instead of "variable" in DMC option menu)

I hope it will help you, AMD users !

I already had it installed due to GoW and UT3 late issues. It really helped me then. Now I guess I'll try limiting FPS as you pointed out. No more crashes so far tho.

It powers up your sword, increases various things with it depending in which level you currently have it at (There's three different ones, think combos also differ a bit.)

EDIT: I think this is better covered in the "History" section in the actual game, contains info on everthing assuming you've encountered it first.
(Enemies and bosses need to be defeated, items need to be collected first and so on.)

I have a 3 years old analog pad that I bought for 15$ maybe even less and the game works great with it
it certainly isn't made to be played with a keyboard so just give it up IMO
