The DirectX on the DVD is old though, atleast from what I saw, seems to be a 2007 redistributable whereas the latest version is JUN 2008.
(It's updated every third month.)
EDIT: Ofcourse the DX on the DVD should still work with the game unless someone made a mistake somewhere. (Demo came with the JUN 2008 redistributable though.)

yes, me too after the boss fight on mission 6 and 7, game crashed "don't send" error in DevilMayCry4_DX9.exe i dunno what's causing it, most annoying thing was that i had to replay missions and after the boss to skip cutscene...  |

well, it changed my resolution too 1024*xxx and the game launched, now that I put back to my initial resolution 1680*1050, it works great, weird, isn't it ?

Wierd im not getting any sound and im stuck at like 15fps at the lowest res, got the latest 175.19 xp drivers installed for my 8800gts too.

using forceware 169.44 with 8800 gt+ 4300@2,7 +4gb ram runs around 40-60 frames over 50 most time all maxed out with 1366x768 .
Will play it a bit buts not one of my top priority games... the hero looks so gay all the time and the sword looks gay too but i knewed it before tried every part of devil may cry none of them touched me...

GASP!!! What is this game!!!! I never played any of the prior DMC and now feel like I have missed out! *&%@#*%&$ CONSOLES!! LOL! Probably some of the best cgi cut scenes in any game. It was like watching a movie, if not better. I am going to start the game again so I can watch the beginning again. Best port to PC to date. High production values and a new high quality start for Capcom and PC Games. Probably one of the best aspects is that this game is made for adults. Some of the scenes were truly beautiful if you know what I mean.
The game runs flawlessly with everything turned up. No 1680x1050 which is a bummer. The controls are really nice and responsive. I get the same feeling after playing this game that I got when I played Gears of War for the first time. I just hope all great console games end up coming out on the PC. Even though we have to wait it's really nice to be able to play them. Better late than never.

I think #3 was ported over to PC some time ago... you could always find and play that.

Don't play 3. The port was a disaster. Controls are terrible, graphics are awful and the cgi is in 640x480 so it looks like it's from the 90s.
Best bet is to find a PS2 you can borrow and rent it or something.

Is it just me or is the audio completely out of sync for everyone else too? I've got an Audigy 2zs and the Test runs the game at 100FPS with my settings, so what gives??? The problem is, the center channel seems delayed/muted/fucked completely. This is very bizzare I've never had it happen to a game before!

sound works fine for me. u using upto date sound drivers? u could try lowering the hardware acceleration in dxdiag.

try lowering the sound hardware acceleration. go to start, run, type dxdiag, enter, sound tab and then lower it.

You are right, my bad, I do remember that but I didn't play it because I heard it was inflicted with that dreaded disease........consolitis! LOL! Maybe I will give it a try.
