The rule is simple, hit start when you are ready, count to 5 sec and hit the button, the closer you get the better etc.

Beats me, but its something that would get hyped in Japan, trust me. They invented the dam Tamagotchi remember 
My best so far (only tried like 6 times) was 5.05, no pic evidence but.

man that was amazing, i was hooked on this game for like 3 minutes. got it to 5.00 on my 6th or 7th try but it wouldnt let me enter my name or whatever it wanted.

that counted your each day step and you had to get 900 each day to be fit (written in the manual 
) but to add more weirdness to it they called it Tamagotchi 2.0 - it had a little furry thing in it that was unhappy when you didn't do the daily 900 and would "pip" "growl" at you with some irritating sound
