Im lately getting these bizarrre freezes , my pc just locks up sometimes a couple
of minutes after booting.It kind of reminds me of a usb-freeze when u plug something or unplug.Sometimes while just surfing the internet.Sometimes no crash not for hours,even when playing games,so its very unpredictable.My mobo is an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe.
My pc is slightely oc'ed to around 2.66 from 2.13 ,has been fine for almost a year.
And i use wifi onboard adapter and keep getting that icon in the taskbar that says "Safely Remove Hardware" which is bullshit since its onboard.One last thing a couple
of times when it froze my DVD writer led flashes with no disc in, possible bad cable?

--->Checked if keyboard and mice are plugged in properly
--->Memtest fine
--->Temps fine
--->I also have it in Vista ( dual-boots) but who cares bout Vista right
--->-PSU rock solid
--->Cleaned out dust in case
--->Yelled at PC and smoked a cigarette

Sometimes after a freeze i reboot ,and it hangs mostly at "Finding USB controllers"
Every advice is welcome cause this is getting very annoying.
Crying or Very sad

Had a similar problem and it turned out to be a dying secondary hd. PC would lock up while booting and it would get stuck sometimes while trying to find all the connected devices. You could try booting with a minimum (only hd with os) of devices and see what happens.

Have you tried stock speed, just to rule the OC out?
Latest chipset/gracard drivers, well you know the rap?

Hm, could be that some voltage are to low for example. Not 100%, OCing is an art that works in mysterious ways. I would check out the ASUS forum for your mobo and see what settings ppl are using etc. At least you will get a indication what seem to be working best etc. I did that for my Rampage as I was totally new to the BIOS from ASUS (always had Nvidia boards before).

Another good site is http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/
