I'm glad it isn't. AI is more sophisticated and there is an actual game here. |
the ai on stalker was shit. |
Oh, as opposed to the brilliant AI Crysis has, right?

Anybody have any graphic issues with the E3 leak. I posted in Technical so I won't rehash in the wrong area.

Guys being stretched and corrupted, like heat artifacts? Yeah, I had that too. Deleted the game anyway, it's a year-old tech demo. Screw that. I want DX10 Clear Sky, not some crappy WIP.

I uninstalled the first one after 3 missions or so
it was just boring , It doesn't feel like you're doing any damage when you shoot folks
and the charachters design was not so good, apart from the first fat fuck on the desk
no vehicules and all
didn't get into it , It felt just like "boiling point" if anyone knows that game

i personally consider Stalker a hardcore gamer's game , it's just beyond awesome , incredibily immersive and shit , i'd rather play a stalker mmo than warcraft or god knows what else ..
it's really something to play the game on a good rig without any setbacks (like constant crashing , crappy bugs , or the ocasional freezing from the fucking heat in the god damn room, beats the shit out learning for college thats for sure )
i loved the overall feeling of lonelyness , after playing a while (as in doing most side missions) it was glad to be in the companion of people who werent :
a) zombies or some mutant fuckers
b) shooting my ass off
c) my imaginary Stalker friend called Skippy who encouraged mass carnage and manslaughter
like i said , experienced players will probably consider it a real gem , people who've played SS2 , Deus Ex , Op. Flashpoint and know what the fuck they are talking about (oh yeah , CRYSIS is a piece of shit techdemo , maybe it has great AI , but you can't fucking notice it cause you're zooming through the fucking levels like superman .. and don't even get me started storywise)

That´s what we are always doing in the pc nowadays...
Revisiting already played games due to the lack of good tittles.

Radamez wrote: | I have fond memories of the original STALKER, despite its numerous shortcomings.. to me it had 'something' that intrigued me enough to play it through. I've actually just reinstalled the game again as I'm in one of those revisiting phases right now, and I stumbled across the Oblivion Lost Mod which looks very very interesting indeed - looking forward to trying it later | There are lots of good things about it, but there are stuff that were left out of the original for a reason. One is the periodical outbreaks. In the original, it only happens once and at Chernobyl only, while in the mod it happens more often (once every few in-game days) and it can be very scary indeed. But it also damages those who do not seek shelter instantly (it's cool to flee with other stalkers towards one, and wait together there for the outbreak to end). I got one right after I entered the Garbage for the first time, and that constant damaging killed the stalkers in the junkyard (the one they call you to defend as soon as you enter the zone), and killed most of the defenders in the train depot (as well as the bandits, but the leader died as well). Needless to say that I instantly failed those missions for reasons beyond my control. That was not cool.
On the other hand now the nights are REALLY dark. I love when a thunderstorm kicks in around midnight. I saw similar things in a Clear Sky video. Pure awesomeness, especially when you fight one of the randomly spawning mutants. Almost like a horror game. They brought back most mutants they left out. One is the dwarf...nasty SOB.

yeah , of course it had ALOT of issues , but all-in-all it was and still really something , personally i love the fact that the game feels so "alive" even , maybe alive isnt the correct word , there is just something that draws me into the whole 'being a stalker' experinece thing .
i find it stupid that even if i spend thousands of euro/dollars on rig , it stil aint good enough (i'm talking to you CRYSIS) , but for what ? for pretty scenery and just explore a more or less empty island .
Stalker is something different , i can't actually describe how or what , but like Radamez said , it has that "something" that makes it soooo awsome .
I too have so many good experiences in the game , for ex. i stashed some shit in the attick in the house that you attack in your first assingment , i stayed there during the night for a couple of hours (don't like doing missions during a storm , it's not that its scary or something , i just dont) and during the night some mutated boars came to search for food , i watched from the balcony as they were lookin for shit to eat , one of them saw me (there were 3) , the other 2 just backed off and after about 30 sec i heard something creepy behind me and BANG one fuckers came up the stares and attacked me . it didnt scare me , but i wasnt really expecting that at all .. stuff like that , even though it sounds simple , you don't really see randomly created AI fuck with u like this

Stalker was awesome. True, there was some bugs and some issues with the weapons not feeling like they hit anything, however this was either fixed by a patch or a mod, cuz the last time I tried I didn't notice it. Biggest problem with the game is the length, I'd say. Too few areas, so the replayability isn't great.
I last played with the SIMBION mod, which seemed near perfect; just a bit too buggy and unfinished translation.

People complain a lot about how dead the pc is, but all we read is people saying how shit the best PC games are...
The good companies that still bet on the pc are crtiticized in every way possible!

CryTek, good company? Why, because they make their games pretty? Gameplay sucked in both Crysis and Far Cry.
