That wasn't a great game... Greece defended really well during the last 20 minutes though, too well even, it made for a really boring second half.

Thats how it feels, kind of.

Normally I would be rooting for germany but because you wanted 'em to win I enjoyed watching the Netherlands equalize.
Karma always catches up with sore winners Razz

lol I wasn't too bothered about the Holland - Germany game. I would have preferred Germany to win but I'm really supporting the mighty French!

Now it's time to support the toblerone munching clock makers tomorrow.

Sore winner? Didn't you like my pic and joke? Razz

I'm torn.... I think he should of been banned from the whole tournament and that UEFA are being too lenient because of his high profile - But at the same time I'd hate not being able to see him prove himself on the international stage.

Still he's gotten off lightly here and that shouldn't be possible whether I like it or not.

Anyway I hope the Swiss give the English a run for their money, a draw or a defeat for England would really make my day.

Well that scoreline really flatters Englands performance if you ask me, admittedly the Swiss defense was fairly weak at times and a better Goalkeeper would of been benefical (Wink) but I felt for the most part it wasn't THAT clear cut.

But one goal down and a bad sending off and the Swiss are out.

England had moments of exciting football, notably when they scored the first goal but it was still sporadic.

Naturally the English are now the best team in Europe and will go on to win the French in the final....

Ah well, this time England play average but win 3:0. I prefer this than to playing well & losing.
It is now in England's best interest if France beat Croatia.
So here goes: COME ON *ahem* FRANCE!!

Get used to it, that was classic Eriksson tacticts which will in all probability take us to at least the semi finals.
BTW why is it that the Italians play for decades that way without critisism, but when England play safety first football everyone hates it?

Yep. Also, the game was pretty decent for a midday game. Can't expect full action under the hot sun.

Once again France were a let down. I'm starting to think that their world cup performance was not a fluke

Stam probably because the Italians do it with flair, the Swiss looked dangerous against England and the French were VERY dangerous. Personally I'm not a fan of sitting back when it's clearly not to your advantage - none of their midfielders were in the match.

Strange game for France today though, Desailly needs to call an end to his competitive football career I'm afraid - he set up the Prso goal and was lucky not to be the cause of a late winner.

France were too cocky in the earlier stage of the match where they were simply toying with croatia, Trez and Henry need to wake up and start doing some work - they were better than against England but not by much.

Silvestre also needs to work out which side he's on as well... two penalties in two games given away by him? Does he get some kind of weird buzz from it all? Still, Barthez did well to go in exactly the right direction, only nanoseconds too late with stretching his arms Sad

Of course I won't lie, France looked good to begin with, and looked okay after that - but they weren't very effective and Croatia were very troubling to the defense.

Now England need to look out Smile

been a lot of clear chances for them that they haven't taken but Latvia have done quite well at times, especially that forward who did the huge run Smile

That was the best game in years, seriously. I don't remember such a dramatic and fast game. Also helps that I was rooting for Czech Republic, and will keep rooting for them until the end.

Absolutely. Czech rep. look like an excellent side. They should make it all the way as I don't see a side capable of beating them. I think Holland are in a better position to qualify than germany providing the Czech don't rest players against Germany.

Wow, what a game. More please Smile

That was one f*cking horrible game if you're dutch... We started so great.

The ref sucked, but our (dutch) Dick Advocaat is an idiot and substitutes his best player Robben.... Unbelievable......................

yeah, i dont know why the heck he took down the most active player for Bosvelt. He's gotta be nuts, Bosvelt did absolutley nothing imo.

He did other mistakes too, i mean who makes Holland play defensive? they cant play difensive, they got a great set of attackers...by god use it! *shakes head*

well..it happens so often..the leading team give away the game by laying down in defense...happened to italy as well, although they are, were experts on riding on a 1-0 lead...hope holland will take the last place, in stead of germany..

still think france will win it, but i think czech republic will give them a fight in the final Wink

the fact that holland lost, wasnt the fault of the team nor the great play from the czech's in the second half,
but bcause of the ridicalous substution that the coach made and a very very bad whistleling referee.

Spain go out then, a rather muted performance I guess and neither Raul nor even Torres got into the game much at all (and Morientes who came on as a late sub didn't even seem to get a touch).

Joaquin was lethargic, Vicente was average and Raul Bravo was easily beaten.

So no wonder that Portugal advance with a 1 goal victory.

But it wasn't a great game of football, and there were only flashes of brilliance - more so in the second half when Spain took more chances and found themselves chasing the game.

I'm glad though as it'd be a shame to see them drop out so early, not just being the hosts but because of the last chance for Figo and Rui Costa to win the title that they so nearly enjoyed Wink

One thing that is annoying me about the tournament so far is how little input the strikers are having on the games, only the underdogs/young kids are rising to the challenge! Quite fustrating when you know what they are capable of.

Also funny to see nobody polled for the Czechs, which is a shame given their performances so far - wonder how right the poll will be in the end... France favourites play the Swiss tommorow.

heh heard that italian newspapers are speculating about if sweden and denmark are going to play 2-2 just cuz they are neighbours, so they both go to quarter finals. conspiracy seems to be the way to go when you cant make it on your own merits. anyway swedish coach got really pissed when journalists was suggesting this and slammed his hand on the table and said that football is about doing your best. in every game.

maybe the idea came from a couple of years ago when mexico and italy themselves had 1 to 1 and just rolled the ball for last 20 minutes and they both made i further. still pretty low to even think such a thing. cant they be responsible for how they play themselves? like another example is when totti was blaming shoes and socks for his lousy gameperformance. and blaming the danish guy for him spitting. what the...? actually i thought italy played a lot better without totti.

this is in no way an attack on italian football (which i think is very good), more a reflection about how some journalists cant take defeat in a grown up way. and come to think about it they still have a good chance to qualify for next round.

hope the game between denmark and sweden doesnt end 2-2. then there will be no end hearing about how they cheated italy from a place in the finals.

im sure thats just bs...i think its rather the opposite...they both wanna win because they are neighbours Razz who doesnt want to be better then their neighbours

i thought so too..when he is playing every attack have to start with him, or he have to get a touch on the ball..so if Totti have a bad day the whole team sucks on top
