Rebuilding a computer for my little cuzin, just some old shitty AMD XP crap. Anywho, her old samsung HD that was from like..years ago was icky, so I ordered a a new WD. hooked it up, get into windows installation and when it gets to the "windows is loading" message it restarts the computer. On the 2nd restart it gives me the BSOD with an error on the acpi.sys file. Any ideas?

This is the Automatic Configuration Power Interface which is the driver that was created that allows your pc to automatically shutoff without using the power button I believe.

Here are some Google threads that might help you, but #2 may be the culprit:

you might try to disable in BIOS any powersaveing or acpi features
From MistressDeath links.

Yeah, AMD use a driver for its Cool’n’Quiet function which downclock the CPU in order to save power. Disable the Cool’n’Quiet function in the BIOS prior to install XP and the relevant driver.
