I have the 3.80 firmware. Anyone got a decent tutorial on getting psx games to run? I've been googling and finding a hodge podge of things from really old posts like 1.5 years ago when it first came out, but nothing too solid on what I'd have to do with the current state of things

I played one PSX game on my PSP (Star Trek : Invasion), but I don't remember which proggy I used, I think it was PSX2PSP 1.4

Google for a guide and download for that proggy.

What exactly do you want to know? Rip and convert or just play a download? At least you need the popsloader plugin for your CFW and the POPS (3.00 - 3.72). To convert a PSX game you need to extract the ISO image and use popstation to convert. Dont forget to copy the keyfiles to your MS.

Well pretty much everything. Say I've found an iso I want to play. I think I have a converter (found a latest version of psx2psp) but there is some mention of needing to have hotshots golf 2 and its keyfile available to convert anything, but I'm not really sure what that is all about. Also are all keyfiles made the same or are there different ones? I found a forum posting which suggested there were different ones.

what is the function of popsloader? Maybe I misunderstood but it seems to be to emulate older firmware if some game you want to play requires older firmware?

I actually decided to upgrade to 3.90-3 M33
Where exactly does the keyfile go? When you say MS do you mean root? or does it go in a subdirectory?

Ok, looks like you read some very old tutorials about that, including how to downgrade your PSP via game exploits or someone talking about DRM stuff from PSN. Forget about that. Keys are unique for your PSP if you bought the PSX game from the playstation store. Popsloader is a plugin made for compatibility reason but afaik theres none for 3.90. Probably because its not needed. The key should be made by the converter and goes to the same folder where you put the eboot.

Check that compatibility list:

I've seen the compatibility list (I'm trying to get Legend of Dragoon working)
Its a multidisc game. So if I have 3.90, and I make the first disc in to an eboot.pbp, where do I put it and how do I load it?
If its an eboot, does that mean I have to reboot the psp to load the game?
Since its a multidisk should I use a special program to convert it? besides psx2psp?

Hehe, that's what I thought after I converted Star Trek Invasion. Compatibility is a problem though Sad

Legend of Dragoon is really the main one I'm interested in and all reports are it works under 3.90-3. Looks like FF7 requires popsloader though as it only plays under 3.71
Here is a text compatibility list if anyone wants it: http://www.gamerspress.com/index.php?title=PSX_on_PSP_Compatibility_List
Looks like there is a utility to put multiple discs in one eboot,

Good for games which don't let you save before disk switch.
(or to keep your games list organized)
