well i for one i am tired of all the people with stupid ass comments like 'i am glad there is no warezed copy of the game out' and so on.
true, its great for the reason that all the 16 yr old hacker kids actually have to break down and get their parents to buy it. however, as one who has bought easily over a hundred pc games in the past, and dont have the resources to buy it right now, it is a frustrating time. besides this fact, i dont much care for the idea of every big release dialing up to call home to make sure i didnt steal it-when i buy it i like to think of it as a fully functioning product that I OWN. and the arguement that says if there were no pirates, games would be cheap, ect ect... thats utter BS. each time there were times when games were thought to be invicible to be copied, the prices went skyhigh. ive been around long enough and i know the basics of supply/demand to know this.
anyways i think its a dark age for the scene and especially hearing people say things as its better there is no crack...people shouldnt even have to say this. buy the game, or dont. even when i do have a job that pays more than just for food and bills i like to support developers who dont make the top 10. these companies usually end up losing money with each release, btw.
so get off your soapboxes and stop preaching, it really gets old.

if i had to choose from those 3 then i'd go with farcry. doom3 is pathetic, hl2 is just ... meh.

This is the order of these game for me
HL2= GOTY
FarCry
DOOM3
Its funny Half life 2 runs perfectly smooth with everyting full, on my sys {9700 Pro amd 2800+} Farcry runs ok some problems, doom 3 absoult shit.
I was ready to get a new video card but 9700 pro came through perfectly with halfllife 2...ands thats all I need:} |

Boo fucking hoo.
On another note, i've got to say that gameplay wise, HL2 is far better then doom 3 and Farcry. Although I think maybe farcry wins graphically, just because of the massive scale. The first level where you get the glider took my breath away when I looked over the cliff edge.
But HL2's graphics are fantastic, and the attention to detail is far beyone farcry and doom.

Dude, you are so completely fucked.
I installed this same patch on my co-workers computer for Half Life One Game Of The Century Edition (has sneak peak of HL2+ (nurbs, not polygon rendering, complete raytraced, too)) and for some reason his monitor fell over.
Best thing to do is to swear off using pirated software like this as you know there's an entire team of crackers from Barvaria that are just waiting to find your steam account (if you do not have one, this can create one and then you're OWn2d) by the barvarian Elite.
What country are you in anyhow? If you're in a different time zone from them, there is an easy way to remove the trojan from your system, but I can't talk about it here in fear of giving away my identity. I can say that you've got a good chance of being safe if your computer was made between the 15th of June else you may have to bite the bullet, take one for the team, do your duty for your country, and last, but certainly not least, always watch your back because those l22t kids have skillz()rz.
Sorry it happened to you, but the rest of us will learn our lesson.
