Well, now that my new machine is finally working I want to try and play some of the newer games I missed out on due to my older, underpowered machine! So I'm looking for suggestions of recent games which are good, and test a machines power!

Going to give the new 3d mark a go while the games download, went for Dirt and Crysis for now as I've already played Bioshock.

Ma, the new 3D mark laughed at my system ! What kind of scores are people getting on that thing? Also, how fast where the GFX benchmarks running? I feel like I need to upgrade again !

yeah u would have though the devolopers would have used higher numbers. on 3Dmark06 in XP i get 12822.. with vantage its more like 3.5k Sad

I think I got around the 5.6k mark which seems to match up with the stats a magazine I bought recently touted for a system of my level, so I guess its not so bad ! Still, I would love to see that benchmark running at fully speed :O! Think I'll be overclocking this rig over the weekend!

Should have bought a console PS3 or XBOX 360 and for a few years no worries on upgrades , plus the games look amazing . Anyway G/L with you comp , for lovely testing I would sugest Call of Duty 4 and play last level

Oh yes, get a console in a PC forum.... That way you don't have to upgrade for YEARS, you can have the exact same performance and look for YEARS!!! You'll have the same pixel shading, bump mapping, and physics output for YEARS. The same texture sharpness and CPU clock speed for YEARS.

Tbh, the only thing better is your CPU which in tests such as this don't mean that much. From memory the GTS gets almost 1k more than the GT (I'll check that if you care?). I also have more RAM which I'm sure will factor into it.

I wonder if running a 64bit OS would have also effected the scores?

Still, benchmarks like that are pretty useless anyway (if you only consider the scores) the fact is that I was getting between 10 and 25 FPS during the GFX test.

Just checked the magazine I have with all of the benchmarks in for the new 3d mark and I read it wrong. The entry level test showed a 1k difference between the GT and GTS, the performance test showed around 200 points difference.
