Ive got amd 64 3000+ 1024 ddr 9800pro (128bmram)
Settings 1024x768, everythin high. 2x aa, trilinar filtering
I get around 70/80 fps. Only in aztec and chateau (with water it drops to 25 fps  ) |

It does slow it down, but its not always that noticable. I get about a 10fps drop when I hit water areas on chateau, but thats understandable considering how nice it looks, that takes me from 60 to 50, so I wouldnt call it noticeable, but on slower comps 10fps can make more of a difference.
Now very rarely it will take a huge hit to my FPS, its not when I immediatly see the water, rather when I've been running through it awhile, then suddenly my FPS will plummet, and I'm playing alone in the server so its not grenades or something. This only lasts a few seconds though, and it might be in certain areas of the water but I havnt tested it. That might be what he's talking about, but other then that you shouldnt see a 50fps drop just because of the water.
I'm running a xp2800, 1gig ram, 9800pro.

2400+,1gig pc2700,128 9600xt,1024/768,all high,no aa or af,76 fps.

I know about the entire 5800 series, dont be a know-it-all, i know just as much as you do. But the fact that every person thinks it sucks more than it actually does. No it aint good at all with dx9, but that aint what im testing here, im playing games, and until i have upgraded my motherboard and cpu i wont replace my fx5800 because it works wonders as long as i run in dx8, and who the hell cares. 15% uglier bumpmapping and gloss, i sure dont. As long as i can play with decent framerates im happy. And if you dont understand that then go ahead and send me a 6800, because i aint spending that much money on a card right now |
You get better FPS coz u run the game in DX8, that doesn't count in my book, for you do not run the game in it's full, but lol if you're happy then i am happy. And yes the 6800 is a sweet sweet thing. |

hehe i used to have dirty dreams about the 6800 last week when i saw it run in a friends computer, aah the visual juice.......
as for the release date, well it has nothing to do with bestbuy "knowing better than valve", its all about if the store releases it a tad earlier than allowed or not. I know of a store here in sweden that will sell it to a few friends of the owners a day earlier or so.
