started playing the game with the newest crack/fix, uninstalled game installed from my retail copy with my retail key,loaded my old save games, completed a planet then black screen when i go to my ship...anyone else get this one?

News on Russian version. Bought it just today.
It is on 2 DVDs (stupid if ask me). You don't need CD-Key to install.
There is no online activation and, most likely no SecuROM. There IS however StarForce version 5.50.11.5 and File structure is a bit different.
It has russian subtitles and english sounds.
However I was able to swap subtitles by copying the whole Dialog folder from English version (\Mass Effect\BioGame\CookedPC\Packages\Dialog) to Russian version and changing a line Language=RU to Language=INT in DefaultEngine.ini (Mass Effect\BioGame\Config). Not sure about stability but it seems to work normally.
So maybe, just maybe, StarCrap will be easier to crack. (yeah, right, keep dreaming)

I did. But not reinstall, just restore the old EXE. Works like a charm.

me thinks its a possible game bug, as everything is running ok when i use a savegame on planet, but when i completed planet and went back to the normandy,black screen,but i could run about, hear my footsteps,open doors,talk to people,open menus etc....just it was showing me fuck all on screen when i would be in the main game

both quicksave and normal save...was the first things i tried LOL, then moved onto drivers and such...and bioware forum trawl-no joy
i might just try a new character, even tho i have gotten to the snow planet,whatever its name is..novaria i think

Got a question about the non-pirated version of this game...
I heard that you don't need the disc to play it after you verified it online, and that you can verify 3 times or something.
Does that mean that I can install it here on my PC then give it to someone else and let him install and play it as well? Or will it complain.

You can, but I wouldn't if I were you, because you will waist one more activation, and as said, you can't activate more than 3 times.

You can, but I wouldn't if I were you, because you will waist one more activation, and as said, you can't activate more than 3 times. |
I won't uninstall it anytime soon and they'll remove that part of the protection sooner or later, it's just a matter of time.
And even if they don't (which I seriously doubt), there'll be a fully working release sooner or later and I won't need activations anymore.

well...managed to get to the galaxy map even tho i couldnt see my character move, then used the galaxy map...to where i dont know, but once there i was able to see my character on the ship as i should be able to..now to find my way back LOL

guys, i seem to have problems with this game. can you recommend me a particular crack? tried the Grp and Rld cracks and with no success. i still have problems with the game! my computer freezes sometimes!

That has most likely nothing to do with the game and seriously not with any of the cracks.
Check if your GPU is overheating (freezes indicate that)... and that everything else is alright... CPU, RAM and your Windows environment.
It may theoretically be possible that the game is causing it but that's VERY unlikely.
As to which crack... "MASS.EFFECT.CRACKFiX.READ.NFO-iND.rar" for example works just fine.

it crossed my mind that it might be my PC but..... can't be sure. have the latest video drivers and my card is GF8600GTS 256ram. anyway, 10x for the tip (-iND.rar) ! i'll try that also. and if that doesn't help either, then i'll move to Hardware zone.... 
EDIT: i have Win XP sp3 running. this is the 3rd day. think it might be the problem? i know sp3 has a few issues with video drivers (i had a few problems with the drivers when i installed them and one time they failed the very instant desktop showed up)

Have the same problem with freezing. Alot of ppl on the bioware forums have reported this aswell. Nothing to do but wait for patch/new vid drivers. I wanna play this game so much, its killing me to have to wait.
Ayone else get a few deus ex vibes playing this? The music and atmosphere reminds me so much of that master piece.

XP with SP3, no crashes so far. You'll need to start a new game if you used cheats to bypass planet landings.
The latest "working" crack has apparently missed at least one check (or screwed up something totally new). Occasionally, when your guns overheat, they won't cool anymore. Not such major annoyance though, you can even save with the glitch present - after reloading your guns aren't overheated anymore.

Not really... Unless you count the ankward dialogues as such "vibe".

hm, the no group crack seems to fuck things up after a while more than the game bugs do. i'm revisiting citadel, and now the game constantly freezes at random spots while running if i use the no group fix. with the russian exe it only freezes during dialogues, but not during running... weird, also makes the game unplayable.

I have a strong feeling that ME wasn't cracked properly.

my ME is freezing alot in the citadel aswell, i got my retail copy today so tried new game / previous (cracked) saves and it's still lockin up infrequently everywhere (but especially in the citadel). it has happened a few times during the start of cut-scenes, but mostly moving from area>area while it's loading.

Just like Bioshock - you probably won't see any more scene cracks for this game. They probably can't crack it any better than it already is.
Anyways, I don't seem to run into any problems with the IND crack and I have been playing many hours now.

Maybe it is the game itself that is flawed a bit as well... Crack works fine here, 10 hours or so and no crash or anything...
