Even if it does show in game footage that doesn't mean anything either. It's not the first time they've had playable game and scrapped it.

Looks good!
Although, the last in-game footage did as well. Once this game is on store shelves i will get excited. Didn't the last version have a release date and maybe even go gold? I can't remember but i remember seeing in game movies previews in mags ...... then nothing, nothing at all for another 10 years.

So it uses doom 3 engine ?

It uses the Unreal 2 engine.
It looks pretty well polished (main-menu, hud etc.) for a pre-release version actually.

With their own custom renderer and other stuff rewritten. Although the UE2 framework is probably still in place, it can most likely not be called UE2 anymore.
Game looks kinda bland though, but it's just a small sneak peak. |

Looks to be an "ego" type level up system of some sort? Watch it again() closely.
Yea looks just like in Manhattan Project. Basically it's duke gaining health as a reward for kicking ass (assuming my gues is correct of course). Seems over all a bit more arcady then it did in 2001. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Game play seems closer to Duke 3D then in the 2001 video which felt more similar to Half Life.

Long answer: FUCK NO.
No matter how you twist it or how much of a fanboy you are you can never really say that it was worth the wait. Because in the time that's passed the producers could theoretically have produced ten more installments of Duke Nukem.

Quality > Quantity.
Of course they've obviously made some developement mistakes, but just because it took them 12 years to develop doesn't mean it's not "worth the wait".
You'll know that when the game is out.

All the bullshit surrounding DNF is ultimately gonna destroy it, no matter how good a game it actually turns out to be.

Not from my standpoint anyways, i would never raise my expectations accordingly with developement time.
If it took them 12 years to make a good game, then they made a good game, whether or not those 12 years should've netted an excellent game won't really be any of my concern.
Especially given that they've actually been pretty idle in terms of hype, the fanbase may have created a hype sourrounding the game which may have led them to higher expectations, but from my standpoint, The 2007 teaser was the "announcement" so to speak, and i didn't really care about the game from back with the 2001 teaser.
