Actually i was being sarcastic. It is generally held to be a steaming pile of shit. I am curious to know why it wasn't cracked though. The only version I can find is the original UC from 2004. The collector's edition is supposed to have many enhancements.

Yeahhhh never mind the concept was neat but the game is totally WRONG looks like shit for real thats why it wasn't cracked...
And the company stopped supporting it and made it free for download.

Derek Smart made a bunch of "improvements" to the Original UC and instead of releasing these improvements as updates, he published them as totally new games. I would like to try out the latest Collector's edition just to see what its like compared to the old Battlecruiser series.

I only tried Battlecruiser but the Derek Smart idea of story(or lack of story) in his games is horrendous. Derek said in one interview that his games lacked of script so the player could invent it!

He is an independent game developer that a lot of people dislike because of the tone of his forum posts. He won't take crap from people and has strong opinions. He always ends up in these situations where forum trolls jump on him all at once and he must defend/argue/fight with many people at once.
I have always felt there is a touch of racism mixed in with people's attacks on Derek. I think deep down it is the motivation for a lot of people for fighting with him.

I honestly doubt any scene groups care. In fact it might make them a laughing stock for even bothering with such garbage. Besides independent developers rarely get attention by the scene.
