Your class needs to have the appropriate weapon talent to zoom.

I actually found the story quite shallow and predictable.
P.S. Spoiler: | I don't understand how the Reapers are going to invade now that the Citadel has been disabled |

This time I'm going 100% Renegade
I will/do miss the mouse control though. Need to get me an XFPS sharpish! |
Sorry but it does look better on the PC. Obviously you are convincing yourself over wise because you can't run the game maxed at high resolution and antialiasing because you exchanged your 8800GT for xbox. Not to mention PC version has nice gameplay improvements. Enjoy your inferior version of Mass Effect. |
OK normally I avoid these things, but this is so sad...you sound so much like a hopeless PC fanatic bashing the box and this guy who obviously enjoys the box version more; and oh, he's not alone on that.
I think the PC version has some improvements, but it's not the port I was expecting after playing the KoTOR's...
This is a PC forum so obviously most of you will do anything to cling to the idea of superiority of your precious PC's...heck, who am I to stop you?
I've been inlove with the PC for aslong as I can remember myself, and it hasn't changed much...problem is I haven't played a decent PC game since I replayed Deus Ex and Fallout months ago!
Face it, it's a barren wasteland, and if someone with a 7900 (which is not supposed to be that bad) can't play an A-grade popular game...it's not the same anymore.
Blame! don't act!

Funny, I can say the same exact thing about you... hopeless xbox fanatic.
I was actually defending PC version from his bashing, not bashing xbox version. I don't know if you noticed his posts even before ME release but I was following his bitching and whining on how PC version will suck, how bad will it run, how not optimized will it be and so on. But now PC version turned out to be great and getting better reviews than xbox version and most of the people will probably agree with me. So the fact that you see it over way around... look at the first line in my post.

It's still the right mouse button. You must have the right weapon selected AND you must have the ability in the first place (ie. have training in sniper rifle), otherwise you'll see nothing but a big unzoomable circle.

Is there any way to change teammates without actually having to walk all the way back to the ship, enter and leave again? Previous BW games allowed it what was a very useful feature. But now I looked at all menus I could think of and I can't fina any that would make this possible.
(Plus I wonder what idiot decided not to put a freakin fast-travel terminal at the docks on the Citadel. I have to ride the fuckin' elevator every time I want to leave...)

I haven't found a way either and I've looked around in the menus as well. Speaking of which, how to I enable the console? Should I add something to one of the config files?

Yes, it is normal. This isn't KoTOR-like style with a balancing evil/good way. One's actions once done remain done, thus the bars in both variants - rennegade / paragon. One side does not balance/minimise the other.

I don't think the story was bad, but i think it was executed in a poor manner. (Not that the game ultimately sucks because of it, but it is kind of a downer)
The game reveals too much about the story, and it shows stuff from a 3rd person perspective, which ultimately leads to a lacking immersion.
Spoiler: |
As for the reaper ending, it is kinda silly yes, but they are out there, and since they now lost their entrance to the citadel they will most likely start advancing without the relay.
Which however makes no sense, because from the knowledge we have it would probably take generations, if not millenia to reach our galaxy, in any case it wouldn't be something that John Shepard would be able to have any decision in.
And if they are to tell us that they have some kind of technology that achieves greater than lightspeed travel without a mass relay then they have made a plothole as it would've been unnessecary to take over the citadel in the first place.

Had exactly the same feeling- these "Spectres" are obviously inspired by the Jedi-Knights, the whole quest structure, the ship, the teammates, the area/map design, the cutscenes, the dialogue, the items in containers - reminds all so much of KotoR.
But I doubt that it finally can beat KotoR - because one of the best features in KotoR was in my opinion the "twist" near the end (I did not forsee it), which was oustanding well told. as far as I have played MassEffect so far, the whole cliche story with the villain, the background and so on is pretty much standard sci-fi...entertaining but not outstanding. Leaves in my opinion hardly enough room for a big twist.... but who knows...

man the elevator-loading-scenes suck.
cut-scenes + voice-acting is pretty good. but i think this game is boring.

clragon wrote: | I dont think you can >.> you couldn't in KOTOR | You could change comapnions in KOTOR out on the missions (there was a button on the map screen that took you to the team-select screen). That's why it's such a bummer that suddenly they took that very comfortable featuire out and forcing us to walk all the way back for such menial things.
At least they should have allowed it in ports, where most character-specific encounters occur.

It will not beat KoTOR because KoTOR was just the better game, I'm getting tired of hearing all the comparisons, despite the similarities.
Mass Effect is a massive mess and while full of potential and inspired, doesn't even stack up to KoTOR's near-perfect gameplay, much more optimization, class differences that I actually cared about, much better conversation system IMO...bottom line for me is, I want to KNOW what I'm going to say! is it that hard to do?
My honest and quite brutal opinion on this one after finally playing it enough is better told using a metaphor, bioware just look like they were trying to climb a wall that they couldn't quite reach, eventually they tried jumping, and jumping, until they hit their head and lost consciousness -- and voila, we have Mass Effect!
Blame! don't act!

Ok so not everyone likes the game, big deal. lol
don't bash the game just because it didn't appeal to you.
there's a difference between a bad game and a game that you didn't like too much.
