maybe the ppl who dont like it but do like FPS's are the ones who have to play it on low gfx or im thinking they played for 10 or 20mins, saw the jungle and thought it was going to be crap. thats what i thought at first untill the story started to get better. def an amazing game

The story is mediocre at its best, stopped playing it after the 3rd level and I was playing this sucker on High with DX10 tweaks... Damn kids with their postulates Rolling Eyes

Yeah Crysis obviously lacked the love story. We all want to experience some love while playing brutal fps'es.

Its quite an accomplishment to deliver such beautiful graphics, but Crysis' overall are just like Transformers pretty and action filled but just plain bad in its story. They should maybe have turned to Ken Levine now thats a douche who knows how to combine both story and graphics.

Most FPS's have shit stories. It's a string of excuses to go around having fun killing stuff, not much more.

Yeah you would know if its a bad story or not coz you played 3 levels. Crysis has above the average story thats for sure than most of the FPS'es and thats quite an achievement. Sure, it may seem that Crysis has a crap story if you uninstall it after 5 minutes like Mussolinka.

The story wasn't that special to be honest and even worse it ends with a deliberate cliff-hanger ending as the game is designed to be a trilogy.
(EDIT: Thus it's a bit difficulty to get into the story.)

Still due to that this is only the first chapter and more will probably be revealed in the sequel and then concluded in the final chapter.

Wikipedia toke care of the rest dear, now I might not have experienced it with the cool graphics nor the atmosphere but jeez even Roland Emmerich could have created something better. Besides CryTek certainly arent the best storytellers in that department just look at Far Cry.

Karmeck shares the same opinion:

"Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's expected to be there, but it's not that important."
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/John_Carmack

I must say I disagree, modern gaming has the capabilities to tell stories on a whole new level. It saddens me when developers tend to ignore this and just make a spray and pray kind a shooter. Now dont get me wrong surely Quake and other competitive shooters dont need that story but a epic game such as Crysis which has its focus on its Single Player definitely need a different attitude to its gameplay.

Crysis Monthly Update #1, the first official status report from Crytek to the world-wide community, is reporting that no more updates will be available for Crysis and the development of the dedicated Linux server is now on hold. In related news, inCrysis has word that Crytek has trademarked the name Crysis Warzone, now owning all of the following trademarks: Crysis Wars, Crysis Warhead, Crysis Warzone, and World in Crysis.

I feel sorry for people who supported this game.

Apologies if already posted but I am just reading on teletext (page 806) that Crytek have "been caught" trademarking something called Crysis Warhead which seems to be for an expansion pack.

Hurrah!

if the expansion gives the story some more closure, i wouldnt mind. It might also be Crysis II, since the story was planned as a trilogy anyways...

Citydisc.ch have had a release date of 19 September for this for over a month now. They've also had the October '08 rumours for GTA4 since April. This news makes the October release for GTA4 more likely so...cool.

Crysis sells 3 million through Retail

On the latest PC Gamer UK mag, July 2008

PC Gamer Magazine had an exclusive interview with Crytek, where Crytek states Crysis has sold 3 million through retails sales worldwide.

That is a huge success for a game of such high requirements.

This interview can be found on page 27 of the PC Gamer UK Mag

Screens from the Merchants of Brooklyn modification, Cry Engine can be used for more than tropical islands.
(Albeit most 3rd party licenses seems to be for MMO titles.)

+1

Although Crysis has been like a crybaby at some points. I mean, there are certain levels in each map that the game would hitch without any reason, putting aside the fact that at some other parts of the same map, graphicaly more requiring, the game ran just fine with all on high and 1680x1050... Hence I think of the game as weird, at least.

First off, the plot is quite easy-to-figure-out, short and not very demanding. Secondly, gameplay is nice but only the first time you run through the game, for the second time, when you know all the tricks and AI tacktics it's a childs play. Last but not least is the graphic part. I mean I don't deny that the game is beautiful. I decided to install Vista just to see it running in very high (true tho that I had to decrease res to 1280x720 to ensure playable FPS but still) but it's not THAT beautful that it would torment almost every GPU on the market... Even new ones from ATi and nV are not enough as single cards to run the game in fulll HD... gimme a break...

More details about "Merchants of Brooklyn" - seems they've gone fully retail instead of being a modification.
