Body damage? Like in SoF3? No. When you shoot them, they evaporate.

Enemies usually disintegare in a particle effect though sometimes a body or two are left behind, guess it's part of the code in UE3 as it does happen in several titles albeit it's quite visible in Mass Effect.
(Most other titles try to hide it a bit aside from perhaps GoW and UT3.)
(EDIT: Seems LeoNatan was a bit faster.)
Any items gained from killing enemies are also added to your inventory directly when you kill them so just press "i" or whatever it's bound to.
Oh and weapons don't jam from what I know but they do overheat regularly, especially worse weapons and ofcourse accuracy and damage is also very dependent on skills and the level they are at.
Really like how some parts in the game turn out like when my character:
Spoiler: |
Returned to the citadel since I killed the sister of one of the diplomats in a raid only to be met by a guy who wanted to inspect my ship, managed to persuade him to write a better report but he was quite negative.
Directly afterwards due to choosing to be interviewed by a reporter I had to do another interview which lead to a discussion some of the stuff my actions had led to such as blowing up one of the areas I visited.
Also seems like some quest givers give multiple quests such as another reporter wanting me to plant a bug in the security office since I helped her previously with another report about criminality.
Even had to call my characters mom after meeting one of her former friends which is now a drunkard and homeless bum.
|
EDIT: You could try a manual installation.

Overheat, that's what I meant by "jam" lol.
BTW, dead body evaporation is not a new concept to preserve system resources. I can't say I'm really for or against it, especially here, because it suits the overall theme quite fine.
Data packs are compressed in RAR files, not ZIP.

Goes to show you how unimportant an engine is to the overall feel of a game when the engine is given to talented developers.

Level up and put skillpoints in electronics, if it's grayed out you might need to raise another skill first to unlock it.
(Ofcourse if you are not a class that can use electronics such as the Engineer then you have to rely on companions with such a skill, just remember to raise the amount of points in that skill for them as well.)
EDIT: Seems I didn't think about using unlocked bonus skills.
(As the poster below mentioned.)

Sure, I take smaller enemies with two small bursts of assault rifle + incendiary ammo, while the bigger ones I take with the shotgun + explosive ammo. Real fun, much better than some stupid turn based shit.

It's confirmed, even though there's still some uncertanties how kills carry over. Check this thread for a pretty detailed explanation.

I started reading the novel. Not exactly the most sophisticated literature I've ever read, but at least it's giving me some idea how the ME universe works and maybe granting me a better understanding about historical references.
Not to mention the warm feeling I might feel if I happen to run into one of the characters from the book in the game (Cpt. Anderson for example), knowing more about them and seeing how they are originally envisioned by BW.

Never played ME on the 360, and I've only gotten up to the point where you can't go further due to the black galaxy map... but I really don't understand why this game received so much praise. Bioware has basically made the same damn game for the fourth time now, and it's like they aren't even trying to hide it (Carth's voice actor playing a character who might as well just be named Carth? Come on...). Other than the Gears-wannabe combat engine, ME is almost identical in structure to both KotORs and Jade Empire too.
While I'm sure some people will defend it with "if it ain't broke..." personally I think it makes for an extremely stale game experience and it definitely deterred me from just buying the game rather than waiting around for a proper crack. Bioware needs to dig themselves out of the rut they are in before I'd consider giving them my money again.

So, if I liked playing as a Scout (I.E. Jack of All trades) in KOTOR. What class do you guys think I should pick? Also how long is Mass Effect if you just about everything you can? I remember in KOTOR it was around ~62 hours or so for me on Hard. Does Mass Effect compare to that?

Some ppl beat it in 17 hours doing all the side quest and stuff (just looking in some forums here) But I think sort a 20-30h, even 40-50h, might be closer to the mark.
I think it also depends what kind of player you are. Personally I like to "see" it all

I beat it in 20-21 hours. You could double that I guess by visiting all the planets, but those are so boring and generic that most gamers will skip that part. If you've seen one planet you've seen them all, that was the worst part in the game.

So let me get this straight, if i want a Vangaurd with the sniper skill, i start the game with an infiltrator, work up till i get the sniper skill, i kill 150 creatures with the sniper rifle until i get the achievement.
Then i start a new vangaurd character and i can choose the sniper-skill as an extra skill?

Yes. Not sure I'd use up points on a Vanguard for sniper rifle though. The best use of achievements is to give an Adept or Sentinel the Assault Rifle skill.

I don't really buy into that kind of argument. Rockstar has made the same game 4-5 times ever since GTA III, but yet very few people seem to mind that. Other than that, obviously many RPG:s will have a similar structure just through being RPG:s, but they still all bring more-or-less unique settings to the table and tell more-or-less unique, character-driven stories. Otherwise you might as well say that DOOM and Crysis are the same game too - they're just the same at their core, after all.
Having said all that, obviously you shouldn't buy any more of those games if you don't like the design.

yes
in order to kill 150 creatures with sniper rifle learned skill is not requirement
achievements has stored in "My Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save\Profile.MassEffectProfile"
ps
imho good choice is soldier with throw, warp and barrier/shield skills

How fun..you can only "run" on battles, but you cant "run" on normal exploration zones...
Anyways the game looks awesome in story guide n stuff, waiting for "crack" (wont talk about it 'ere^^),but it's just a lil bit confusing on controlss..i mean, couldnt they've put "Grenade" as G instead of R?..makes me think of reloadin' my weapon with R and BOOM XDDD
also quests are very cool coz of selective answers..thou they should put an aim in the radar/map about where to go
wont score it...yet..until crack
