Only it isn't. In this case it's a bad crack, while the Assassins Creed problems were related to beta shit.

Leo, you still haven't encountered any problems whatsoever with the DTN version?

Yeah, this is my first post here. =P
Anyway, on to what I was going to say. I'm not sure how many of you other people found this, but it seems there is an autosave command in the console. Currently I can't get it to work, I figure this is because of lack of parameters that are needed. Maybe if we figure out what parameters are needed we could have a make-shift quicksave?
Just an idea, don't like it? Flame away. All I know is that if this isn't properly cracked or worked around by the time I get my copy from Amazon, it's being activated asap. =P

Already bought it and I'm using original EXE. Decided not to wait and encounter problems, plus my saving is working, so...

No, was thinking the same, but was too eager to play the game instead of looking for registry comparison tools and such. However, I'm sure Securom thought about it, and made the registry be dependent on hardware, so the only good this will do is make it activated for your PC, which is pointless anyway, because activation on a same PC doesn't use more than one activation.
Keygen didn't even work in Bioware's forums, so I'm sure it won't work for the game.

What this obviously shows is, all the scene groups have basically the same cracking ability. Reloaded, FLT, Vitality and Razor1911 are all basically the same. If something new comes along - and one is unable to solve it - then none of them can solve it. If one can solve it - then all of them basically can solve it.
I am patient - I can wait months for them to properly crack ME. Just hope Fallout 3 doesn't have this protection. Cause dispite my protest against online authentication, I may have to bite the bullet and buy it.

Meh. The 3 installation/activation limit with the protection is the most annoying part.

According to what Leo said, you can activate it 3 times on 3 DIFFERENT PCs. And unlimited times on the same 3 PC(s)
Really nice activation scheme, this is the future. Disc-checking will die.

it seems i have the galaxy and save problems as well. But i'm just curious ...i've entered the Normandy and talked to everyone but i can't even select the galaxy map (the "USE" button is grey). Have i missed (people to talk to, things to do) something or are these the normal symptoms? I recall people saying that the screen goes black and stuff like that.

How so? I have bought the game once (on the 360) since I was too impatient to wait for the PC version. I have already shown my support for Bioware (heck I bought a 360 for Mass Effect. First a core just to play it, then I stepped up to an Elite cause I felt the core was incomplete. Best buy is good for something sometimes.)
I played through it once so I would still have things to do when the PC version came out.
Its out, protection equivalent to a rootkit is on it and I can afford to make a grand gestrue of boycott since I can simply go to my 360 and re-play it.
I know the PC ui is better since I have played through the Spectre acceptance, but the game is fine on my 360 and I am getting my HDTV in about a week. I even have the Bring down the Sky DLC on my 360 though I have not played it yet.
Now how is that a lousy excuse? I have no reason to buy the PC version (no real reason) since it still has a 7950. The rootkit gives me even LESS of a reason. |
Well, you should say that in the first place. If you got it for 360 then that is a very good reason for waiting for a good crack.

According to the logs, the game loads from Device 0, but Quicksavess try to save to Device -1. There is also a complete set of default .ini files (with handy descriptions) in the games main directory that may reset changes made to the user .ini files.

Hmm, so noone has figured out how to use autosave in the console? I'm practically clueless with it. It might help the save issue seeing as normal autosaves are far and wide.
EDIT:
I think I'll try deleting my config folder just to see if what OG suggested works. Will post results when I try.
EDIT2:
Nope, didn't work.

Please explain me, WHY reloaded "proper" crack hasn't been nuked yet?
It's classic reason to nuke someone's release if it's incomplete, not fully working etc.

The activation is probably hardware-based, so you can format all you want.

If this is true this would handle my biggest grip with the protection. Call home was never a big issue (I have and use steam so meh.). Installation limits and a program that will probably remain benign but still have free reign are not my examples of top of the line service for legal customers.
Oh of course I still wouldn't get it until at the very least I put in my new card (XP calling my PC new because I got a new graphics card was...not pleasant. Not sure is Vista is any better)
+ Bioware removed the protection from NWN eventually. Who knows, might not play the thing on a legit copy till around ME2 then get it for the DLC that will come out (bioware managed to lockdown the DLC for NWN by making them calling home.)
