Definitely buy the game. I'm not one of those stupid little boys that screams about "Support the developer!" while on a pirate site - but I DEFINITELY think Bioware should be compensated for this.

Linear? Dear god! I'd go lower res + trilinear at least.

There's only options for Point/Linear/Aniso

Then anisotropic. Linear is fugly.

Do not ask too much from my trashcan. It does run the game alright but let's not go too hard pn it shall we Laughing .

But seriously , i tried both linear and aniso and didn't notice much of a difference. Then again i haven't tried very hard but i gain maybe 1-2 fps if i use linear and im going to take everything i can Laughing

This fucking quick save issue pretty much ruins the game.

I load in and it quick-saves fine. I run a quest and go through a loading screen, all of a sudden, quick-save failed. I go back to the exact same spot it worked in before, quick-save failed. What the heck gives?

Game issue? Crack issue? I'm at a loss here.

I'm not sure this is an error. In the 360 version there are times you can't save, usually when you are in combat or when you are too close to enemy units so that your team mates think you are in combat. That will cause the save tab to be greyed out, and I would imagine it'd make the quicksave not work as well. Try it when not in combat and at a reasonable distance from enemies.

From my experience it seems that if you run the launcher it detects that you have a non legit copy of the game, and "corrupts" your settings/saves folder under Documents. Thus giving you the "Your Game Has Been Compromised, Please Reinstall" error. If you just remove the BioWare folder in your documents it fixes the issue but you lose your save game Smile

Solution: Don't use the game launcher. Simply run the cracked .exe file.

Tried this, doesn't work. I get "game has been compromised" even though I've never touched the launcher. It seems that once you get to Citadel it is impossible to save manually.

I can also confirm. Deleted Bioware folder, started over (this time editing shortcut to launch the .exe directly). QuickSave worked properly up until the Citadel zone. Once in the Citadel I managed to Quicksave 2 times successfully. Third time it started the error again. Although before I tried saving the third time I toggled my subtitles on - that may have had something to do with it.

Still unsure if its just the game or a faulty crack.

Not fun Sad

EDIT - Also, while you cannot quicksave when in combat/enemies near, in my save test I was standing near a non-hostile npc in the citadel - same spot - 2 successful saves , toggled subtitles on - third save = ERROR.

Errors ever since then.

Figures... You would think the game developers and publishers would know better just by the example of airport security. To much security is always a bad thing and can cause harm.

You know what's classic? Remember when they delayed the ship date for the game by a few weeks - they came out with some line that said "The extra couple of weeks in studio will allow us to polish the title a bit more to give PC players the high quality that they are used to". Very Happy Very Happy

Grrr....must quick save to play.. Sad

It really seems like the galaxy map bug is a problems with the cracks. Theres only one topic about it on the official forums with only 2 replies yet it has over 3300 views. Theres only maybe 2 topics with more views than that and not by much. Maybe those 2 people have legit copies but are using the crack. I don't really want to go blow 50 bucks to find out I'm wrong though. I also haven't seen a single topic about the save bug thats not the one about the wrong save path thats fixable.

It seems to be the actual save games themselves that are being corrupted -

I did a hard save while my quick-save was still working.
I went, talked to some people, got a quest. Quick-save failed again.
Zoned into the towers via elevator - game auto-saved but Save/Quicksave was still fubar.

I reloaded my original hard-save game, lo and behold the save feature was again enabled and quicksave still worked. *scratches head*

Surely a buncha other people have the same issue....official forums are relatively quiet about a saving bug though.

So, since the cracks are highly unreliable, is there any info regarding these groups or some other working on an improved crack? Also, shouldn't the RLD version be nuked too? Seeing how it's not 100% error-free.

Not sure why they bothered to release the game, this is really getting ridiculous.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. A quick look in the log file, displays the same line each time I hit the quicksave key:

[85.728] Log: Saved Character00_QuickSave on device Id -1

Not immediately helpful, but there is a crapload of .ini files in the games profiles directory that could be messed around with to figure out what that means, I don't really have the patience for it.

Another interesting thing to note is the game isn't recognizing my Audigy either.

[16.804] Log: Unsupported Audio Device: SB Audigy Audio [C000]
[16.818] Init: Audio Device: Generic Software

So it's switching to software sound, which is bullshit. I'm using the standard Audigy driver provided by Creative. Bad crack, or buggy shit? Dunno, but at this rate we'll never get a proper. Sad

Who here had realtek drivers for their audio hardware on their motherboard? It seems this might be the cause of black screens for some.

These people are having the same idea.

Still haven't concluded if it's the crack that's causing that...

Make sure you have a retail version of the game and not a downloaded one with a crack, or using a crack on the retail version. This is a sympton of using the current crack, so are some save problems.

And then there's the:

Reading in the bioware forums makes it clear that they're using a two-step SecuROM solution, not just the authentication/check protection.

Well I'd take that with a grain of salt considering that the person who posted that is just some random guy, and is in no way related to BioWare or EA

And yes I think everyone has that compromised window. The game still loads and plays, however.

Until they reach the galaxy map in the Normandy (where I'm currently stuck at, unable to move on) and the inability to quicksave (which ticks me off a lot).
