I'm just thinking that maybe this problem is hardware related. I've yet to get the game, I don't wanna waste my ratio on something that don't work for most people. I believe you, though.
This game is amazing! Why can't they make a Star Trek game like this? Anyway, I have just started playing so no problems yet. I am using the DTN release and I changed the install location and created a new character. I am addicted so will keep playing and see if I run into the same problems. I am predicting I will as well. I am using the nvidia 174.74. Awesome game, reminds me of past Bioware games because of the high production values.

SOOO, this is retarded. Yes, it works to move around in the galaxy map. But, you cant get off your ship "
Is there some other screen when you select a solar system? After you click Travel to?
Its like, a sun pops up bright, then everything goes black again, and you cant get off the ship. >_>

Have you got a GeForce 8-series card? If so, you're out of luck for a while. Known issues, including black screens and map disappearing.
There's a lot of complaints on the Bioware forum about 8800 and, specifically, 8800GT owners. The devs are aware of it and are supposedly working on a patch.
Perhaps the GT cards have problems, they are G92. GTX is G80.
Could be, but I've also seen the same complaints from people with the older G80 too :\
Seems to me, just like I've been saying for the last few days (and getting shit about it, too, I might add ) is that this game is MASSIVELY unoptimised and just isn't, obviously, ready for a widescale release. There's a lot of bugs with it :\
hm, i was just about to post the same thing. Though, i tried it, and it was not working for me, or i did not made it right..
I think that might be a different bug. It sounds like everyone in that thread manually set their My Documents folder to a separate partition, and were never able to save at all at any point.
Well the galaxy map actually works on my 8800gt even though how retarded it sounds... you have to keep tabbing the right mouse button while entering galaxy map and then tabbing space button when moving on the galaxy map... it still goes black when the cutscene comes though :S

I couldn't be happier that this game is using original setting and not some milked to death geek movie franchise. I don't need to see annoying star wars characters or some shitty star trek character that means nothing to me for once and it's awesome.
Poeple stop beeing on LeoNatan's back, this is PC gaming we are talking about where every PC is different. This kind of shit is always happening with PC games like one little program installed can make the game completely FUBAR.
If you poeple cant understand that, just join the dark side (consoles) and the problem will be solve.
LeoNatan is not the kind of user to post Bullshit so if he says the map work...the map fuckin work

The only bugs people have experienced are crack related. How does that make the game unoptimized? And the game runs FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC, in contrast to all the benchmarks posted earlier. The game is just brilliant.

Actually it's direct opposite of what you said in your propaganda posts. Game is silky smooth, very well optimized.

Go and have a look on the Bioware forum. All bug reports are from people with "Mass Effect PC" in their profile. You don't get that tag without legitimately owning the game.. and since there's no DVD protection on it, there's no need for a legit player to crack it.
There's a LOT of bugs with the game.

You've got a Core2 and an 8800
And what propoganda? I OWN, as in PAID FOR, the legitimate 360 version.
