Im running windows xp SP2, With no AV installed.
I stopped using AV programs since 2002 or something.
Because back in the days it was a pain in the ass with memory usage ect,
wont be a problem now but i dont need any.
Got enough experience in this circle

Try the Catalyst 8.2. The 8.3 and 8.4 seem to have problems with this demo.

i think i found the problem @ codemasters forum
"viii) Is ATI’s Crossfire or NVIDIA’s SLI supported?
Unfortunately, due to the working of GRID’s engine, systems which link two or more graphics cards (i.e. Crossfire or SLI) are not implicitly supported. This means you may not see a performance boost from having the second card, and you may even have trouble running the game. If GRID is failing to start properly and your system is SLI or Crossfire enabled, try disabling the technology in either NVIDIA’s or ATI’s control panel in Windows and see if this helps."
BIG WTF, a game engine like this does not support two graphics cards???? WTF!!!!!! |
Can 'Crossfire' be disabled in that card? That should "solve" the problem, but don't know if it's possible. Maybe it can be fixed in Catalyst, but yeah, if the game doesn't support multiple GPUs it shouldn't at least perform worse than single card. |
This is so retarded, a game like this doesnt support multi gpu ?! :/
TesterWS wrote: | Try the Catalyst 8.2. The 8.3 and 8.4 seem to have problems with this demo. |
I dont think this is a driver problem, this is a codemasters problem, because they made an amazing good looking engine that supports multi core cpu´s, but no support for multi gpu card, how retarded is this?
katalux wrote: | you really wrong buyin' HD3870X2 1GB, ati don't rulex since ages.....also the last VGAs have lot of drivrer problem |
Im 100% happy with this card, i havent got any problemes with games\drivers at all.
This is the first problem im having, and by the looks , the problem is the game not the card.

Codemasters already said, that they don't recommend the 8.3 and 8.4 catalyst. A friend of mine with X1950 had some major glitches...

Whats up with the driving-aids @ multiplayer?
I dont see options to force specific aids when creating a game.
Player's choice , or .. ?

Yep, player settings. Probably host selectable in full game, like it was in Tocas. Or at least I hope it will be. As long as I get automatic gears and hood cam I'm set, those driving with inside view and manual are propably a lot faster anyways =)
Wonder if there will be tyre wear or fuel. Pit stops were fun in Toca, only one stop, but the timing really did have an impact. Car tuning is most likely dropped, but the cars handle better than default tuning in Tocas, so I don't mind.
Though it seems that 7 laps is the longest, if it stays that was (short, medium, long). Tyre wear doesn't really come in effect in those laps and fuel isn't running out. Endurance races are "fun", did once 30 laps on Spa Francorchamps and had enough on lap 20 That took already over half an hour.

Track List (Final)

Many scary cars (those Le Mans thingies) and other super fast ones, that I probably won't be driving online. But also some nice slower ones.
Track list seems a bit tiny. 6-7 real tracks, rest city circuits and drift ones. Good thing is I've driven most of them before and Jarama is in the demo. Have to learn just the city ones and drift.
Of course there are different variations and will probably think it's the long track when driving a short circuit version and go straight on bends.

I really like this game... But I have to find something else to occupy my time 'till it comes out, I'm burning myself out drifting. Yes, pun intended. Just reached 14,5 million with a 12,8 combo. I've seen some crazy videos on YouTube with people that have 40 and up to 90 million. Either they have burned some brain cells playing this game daily for hours, or are very good, or just using assists. I don't know.
But damn, I love the drifting part.

Seems a bit strange that the original price is 34.99 pound when other titles are between 24 to 29 pound (Albeit Grid is currently on a slight discount so the price is 24.99 now.)
Checked a few local sites and here the price is around 350 SEK which is pretty average, especially for new games as those usually retail at between 400 to 450 SEK.
EDIT: Should have read the post above about Codemasters charging extra.
