be aware though, that the rip requires 24+ gigs of disk space while installing. that's huge Wink

Isn't that true for most of these bigger titles unless one chooses to burn the DVD after downloading it.

First one needs to acquire the game, then that game needs to be unpacked which in most cases doubles the disc space required, then the title is either burned or mounted and in the case of the disc being mounted the install will further increases disc space usage.
(Most people do remove the rar files or whatever after unpacking though.)

Good thing that there's a few TB drives out even though they are expensive. (I used a Hitachi myself and recently got a new Samsung F1 to replace it.)
(Though usually those are not as fast as the other drives, albeit Western Digital recently released the new 300GB 10.000RPM raptor.)

If U count the rar files, the rip needs 30gb+ for installation (and only god knows how much time - didn't try yet as my hd is full of shit)Smile

Small spoiler..

I'm stuck here,.. the part where you escape the base then go outside and flaming meteor fall from the sky. Then you rejoin your team, one get an a arrow in the head and you have to continue, but then I got killed and it respawned me to the last checkpoint (when you meet the team). From there, one guy say "come on!" and they leave, but I just can't follow them, I can't move/look around/fire/crouch anything, no keys are active. I tried waiting, I tried quitting the game and select "continue" in the main menu, I just respawn at the same place and I can't move!!!!!

edit : I restarted the level from the start, got there and it continued, I managed to kill like every guys except the last one I died and I re-spawned in the bugged place again...

The game crash after I live the ship.. I can walk (escape) the ship at the begining, but after I wake up from the dream when Turok hits that guy with a rifle it goes back to windows.. It is just after checkpoint.. Also when i try 'continue' from the menu it loads it.. and crash right away...
Anybody got the same problem?

Colin Mc Rae Dirt also. Look at minimum requirements. Turok needs SSE2 to run properly

It's terrible. The only thing longer than the installer is loading each level or reloading when you die. It's fucking awful.

Original Turok on the N64 was badass, this was.. not.

its a fantastic game ON xbox360 , the PC version is CRAP ...i mean come on its 3x its size on PC and still it looks the same ,has script bugs that aren't on xbo360 , quick save crashes the game and forces you to restart the level because it corrupts your saves etc...

same was with Stranglehold ,xbxo360 version was more fun then the pc

no idea what you talking about i finished this twice on pc and there were no bugs, same with stranglehold

size is a killer though. i wonder why they fucked up so much :\

btw good luck aiming on your 360 without aimbot in turok Laughing (there is no aim assist for turok on console)

Perhaps voice files and localized movie files for the game data thus 15GB or so instead of 7 or something.
(Was a long time since I played the game, don't really remember what took the most space, file size isn't really a good way to judge a game though, hehe.)

Yes, the same for me; I haven't encountered any script issue/save crashes...and they were both enjoyable experiences.
The huge size is quite common along almost all the UE3 powered games on PC, mainly due to the use of prerendered movies instead of realtime ones. Though from what I can remember the cutscenes in Turok were mainly "ingame"..

I wish we could get a new Turok game in the style of Turok 1 and 2. It looks like the canceled game was sort of heading in that direction stylistically, instead of the space marine sci-fi stuff of the last one.

I remember being blown away by the first games due to their huge levels and the amount of gore (especially Turok 2).

yes the GORE in Turok 2, I had to import the uncensored N64 version from the UK (the black cartridge). Never seen anything like that before, and not after until I got to play Soldier of Fortune. You could take those fuckin Dinos apart man, shoot off limbs and heads and they keep running around for a bit, then start to have convulsions Very Happy And not forget the Cerebral Bore.

I want a Turok game that connects all the timelines where you can play with all the Turoks and every Turok is a slightly different game.
- Joshua has a fast paced old-school shooting mechanic, synth music
- Joseph gets an immersive and violent remake of the Turok 2 experience (Port of Adia level with storm and uber-tesselated waves)
- those siblings from Turok 3 should get a slow paced futuristic gameplay with heavy stealth and RPG elements, a bit like Deus Ex
- the new Turok gets to be a Sci-Fi shooter with Mass-Effect'y atmosphere and space shootouts

One of the greatest things about that weapon is they actually made pinkish-grey textures for the liquified brains that squirted out. Most other games probably would've been lazy and just used a regular blood effect.
