Battlezone series in the simulation part?
I thought they were really good (tank sim/strategy btw).

EDIT: Sorry, It's in strategy. NM then.

EDIT2: I might as well use this post for something. Any of you played the Citizen Kabuto back in the day? I thought it was pretty decent back then. Also a game from the (pretty much) same company: Armed and dangerous. I liked it as well, 3rd person shoot-em-up with loads of humor.

Nice topic, I just quickly checked the list, and it looks very good, probably only 2 (3) games missing for me that need to be up there immediately:

- Transport Tycoon! I still play the openTTD version regularly.
- Sims 1-2 (Probably the most successful PC games ever)

Oh, one more thing, how about an MMO section? (World of Warcraft should be on the list too.)

Btw, MannyK, Europa 1400 is also called The Guild in most countries, and both Guild games are on the list under RPG - on the other hand, I agree, it should be in strategy (it's actually a tycoon game in the middle ages, with some RPG elements).

Actually, only the first one is an economy-strategy. In the second one you will spend more time taking care of family members and family affairs than the actual shops you have.

Those two games were great, I still play them from time to time. Not a simulation, but then I don't agree with some of the other games considered simulation - but it's a moot point. Destruction Derby was cool too - I remember playing it on both the Playstation and PC.

No. Smile But it's the closest genre for those two games. Or I could write " Multi-directional shooters shown from an isometric perspective", if you prefer that. Very Happy

But here is one real simulation :

SIMULATION
Comanche series

Oh yeah Very Happy

Looks like there is well above 200 games in the list now, so it's going to take quite some time to finish writing the descriptions I gather. Again, if anyone feels like it, it would be nice if you could write descriptions for a few games, particularly in the rpg genre, as it would speed things up some Smile

Upcoming PC games 2009 and onwards
Bravery is not a function of firepower.

Still, the only goal is to have more money than anybody else. I don't think you can call a totally open ended game with absolutely no storyline an RPG.

Well I have added images, year, description and developers for all the games up until and including the First-Person genre.

I also added a rudimentary poll as I would like to know what people think of the list (please keep in mind it's still a work in progress). Because I honestly don't see much point in working on it further unless people are interested.

Hexen appears to have the same image as Heretic and Quest for Glory seems to have the same image as Simon the sorcerer. Smile

Can't think of much to add to the list, Shogo was great and despite it's age it's still quite good, same with the original Blood and Shadow Warrior titles.

EDIT: For RPG titles Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption and the Bloodlines sequel are pretty good, same with Arcanum.
(There's a ton of great titles though, such as the Divinity serie, Ultima serie, Wizardry serie, Might and Magic serie, TES serie, Gothic serie and even a few action RPG's such as Sacred, Titan Quest, Loki, Silverfall.)
