hi, dunno if it is in the right forum, but whatever...

My pc with Win XP SP2 has some strange behaviour. It shuts down all of a sudden... I checked the win XP settings and it "shut down on error" is not checked. So it is not a system error that is causing it...

Also when i reboot my pc i have to try 2-3-4 times. It shuts down after 1-2 secs before anything appears on the screen...

I opened my case and verified the power supply, all the cables etc. And they all seem fine.

What is causing this, because this really sux...

after 2-3 attempts i get to the windows login screen and i can use it for 30 min or so and then it shuts down like a power shortage happens.

sounds like the powersupply to me.

double check and make sure your graphics card etc is seated properly, you might want to make sure its not a overheating problem aswell though. in most countries the weather should be a fair bit warmer now?

check to see if theres much dust around the grills for the power supplys fans while your at it.

Had the same problem with my old PC. It was because the capacitors on the mobo were swollen for some reason and I had to have em changed. So, yeah...you might wanna check the capacitors.

If it's not the heat it might be SP3, a lot of AMD-users have reported that Service Pack 3 has given them issues.

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Only HP customers. HP images PCs with intel processor driver, even for AMD processors. SP3 doesn't like this at all.
