How exactly do you find out the filenames of different releases? The reason i'm asking is because i've noticed that a lot of clones only get posted on usenet by their filenames, so if you search for the full release name you won't find it. Is there a site or something like nforce that lets you know the filenames of a release?

Gigabyte S-Series GA-G33-DS3R, Intel C2D Quad Q6600 OC @ 3.2Ghz, 4gb Kingston PC8500 1066Mhz DDR2, Geforce 7800GTX (will get a 9800GTX when they are released), 2 x 250Gb HD's and a case with built in paper and lotion dispenser.

well if you look in the nfo's sometimes they list the filename in there.

otherwise you could always just do a title search on a torrent search, go to details, and check the filenames in there and give those a shot.

A tip i find useful is to search for something the group released a while ago. Thsat way it is often posted and reposted under its title IE: Iron man Reloaded as opposed to Rld-iron with absolutely no description of what it is. That way you find out what group name they will use

One thing that really pisses me off is the way some grps 'seperate' words .'s and _ and - ffs whats wrong with just naming it with spaces? we no longer live in the world of DOS and max 8 letter descriptions Smile

Well, someone PM'd me and gave me a very useful IRC channel that lists all the latest releases. Since i don't know whether he wants me to post it or not, i won't. But if you read this, i suggest you post the info you PM'd me in this thread so everyone else can see it.

It's supposed to improve searchability. If you have a space separating two words of a name then that is seen by search engines as two distinct words and it searches on both the terms except when there is an option to look for both words. Even then it doesn't really return the exact result that you're looking for.

Example - If you were to search for Dick Tracy then you would get results with both Dick and/or Tracy in them which would lead to a lot of incorrect and amusing results. Even with 'and' you would be surprised at the number of crap results. But if you were to search for Dick.Tracy or Dick_Tracy (_ is often used as a replacement for the space) then you would get far fewer but more accurate results. That is provided if someone posted using the Dick.Tracy name.

Spaces are still not used in unix file-names, although there's support for it. Why does the "_" bother you so much?

why not use spaces?

open your command window and try cd program files and then try cd "program files"

Just try to make a program or script with spaces shit. it is a hell...

so no spaces = much more easier

spaces in filenames will fuck up a lot of scripts used on ftp sites.
