Got the game for PS3 and the first thing i'm going to say is that i really really hope that it get released for PC. The reason i say that is because the gameplay and the game mechanics are awesome but the graphics are sub par. There are waaaaaaay too many jaggies and the game would benefit greatly from an higher resolution and ESPECIALLY AA. Overall i'm liking it so far but i keep telling myself that it could be so much more with better graphics. Habitually im not a graphic whore but in this case there are too many jaggies to go unnoticed , especially for someone coming for a PC background who hardly ever see a jaggie in a game.
GTA IV would truly be a masterpiece @ let's say 1680 x 1050 (or better) with AA , AF , better draw distance , better framerate , sharper textures and better online. Please Rockstar/Take Two MAKE IT HAPPEN !! I hate the fact that this game potential is being held on by consoles (and i own a PS3 + GTA IVso im not trying to be a fanboy or anything but it's the truth)>

not a ps3 fanboy, I just have one, and have read a lot of comparisons...
ps3 has more AA filtering (slightly), and less popup issues (slightly), however, the 360 has more vibrant colors.
The color issue can be fixed with 3 different types of settings....console, tv, and in game settings
The depth of field is WAY overdone in this game IMO, worse than Gothic 3
HOWEVER, I think they used the DOF so the game could get a constant FPS...if the viewing distance had sharper textures with this physics engine on TOP of everything, it would run like complete shit.... just my opinion

Ordered a Xbox Arcade, hope it'll be worth it, at least it'll be nice to have something else except my HTPC hooked up to my 720p projektor. Bully, Saints Row, Crackdown, Dead Rising, Halo3 and Skate seems to be worth checking out. Maybe Perfect Dark Zero as well, i loved the original..
I've read that turning down "sharpness" (which many people use a very high setting on their tv or projektor) helps much against jaggies in GTA IV.
Which games REQUIRES hdd on the 360? I've tried google, no luck..

Keep in mind that the PS3 version runs at sub-HD resolution (640p) without any AA while the X360 version runs at 720p with 2xAA. The PS3 has a blur flter that makes the jaggies less obvious but also compromises details. This is a wrong way to remove aliasing and should not be praised.

As far as i know Microsoft won't allow any retail games to require the HDD.

Has anybody bought from them before? Fake? Or just wishful thinking?
For what its worth, the cover is identical to the one from this video, claiming to be from the Take2 site 4 months ago. |
They've changed the date to 30th October. I'm still hoping they know something we don't.
I also found this:
Quote: | Rockstar: "No comment" on GTA IV PC reports
Wednesday 30-Apr-2008 5:21 PM An inevitable response...
Rockstar's UK arm has handed CVG a "no comment" in response to reports that a PC version of GTA IV will release toward the end of the year.
In January we reported that French retailers had been cited as the source for an October 2008 release for the sequel on PC, and yesterday German e-tailer City Disc had a PC version down for November.
City Disc has now amended its listing to give an October 30, 2008 release, and translated accompanying text now apparently reads: "The release date for GTA 4 for PC has not yet been confirmed by the Publisher, Take 2. The release date is not guaranteed and is open to change."
(Thanks to Evo Gamer for the tip off and the translation).
As we pointed out before, it took GTA III and its sequels around six to eight months to make the leap to the mouse and keyboard crowd, so a late 2008 release for GTA IV on PC would be in keeping with tradition. But it doesn't officially exist. Yet. |

I would've thought they'd just flat-out deny it if they knew it wasn't coming. It'd sell at least one more console version, trust me.

Read again. If you still don't understand read again. And then again.
And if you still don't get it, here is a tip just for you:
Spoiler: |
He is mentioning the HDD in his quote. So no HDD, no patch.

saints row is too 'nigga' for me. It has annoying GTA ripoffs too. Coming from GTA4 to saints row Syco, would be like coming from Ferrari to Ford.

That's what I felt about San Andreas... "For sure," or as they were saying it "for show," had me cursing at the screen lol. I guess I'm not into the rap culture at all.
