Psychoace: Yes but he isn't buying a cpu next month or three months from now when intel might have the chip out. He is most likly buying it now meaning if he goes intel he has to settle with a 32bit cpu thus meaning upgrading sooner.
No arguement there..

I was referencing the new intel procesers the Extreme crap.
Nothing new about extreme's and they dont run hotter as they dont use more power than normal P4's. They simply have much more cache.

Psychoace:when you mean "installed these chips hundreds of times" you do mean the 775 one's right?
Yes I do mean 775 ones, I work them everyday.

Psychoace: Can you afford a Itaniums?
Don't need to afford them, I get them provided .
I do see your point psychoace, although somethings you said where not quite so true some of the things I said come from my own experience and opinion, which makes them unsolid also. Im lucky enough to see intel from a good POV so I suppose I do see there better angle. Although there CPU's have downsides, they also have very good sides just like AMD's, it is very hard to compare them as they run better depending on the operation that is trying to be performed.
Anywho, Im sure the guy has made up his mind now..
sorry everything i said is things i read from various sources of media outlets from mags to hardware sites. Since i havn't tested the chips I wouldn't know but you are right intel does have it's +'s and it's lots of fun having such a close battle between cpu makers cause it just means more for us faster
