" JoWooD sent out a press release officially announcing Gothic 3 - Forsaken Gods, an expansion for the RPG sequel due by the end of this year that will bridge the gap between Gothic 3 and Gothic 4:".
Hope i then can play the game to the end. - all the damn lag....

There's no problems, those patches will really improve the game and hopefully most of the remaining issues (Such as unbalanced combat and creatures.) will be handled by the expansion. (As they are a bit big to handle by normal patches without serious tweaking and balancing.)

Compared to Gothic1-2 (some of the best combat controls ever in a RPG) it's awful, they wanted to make it more hack'n slash which sucks, in fact everything about G3 sucks compared to Gothic1-2, even the graphics (artwork/style etc, it only has more polygons and some more FX).

Pirhana Bytes are busy with RPB (That game they started on when they separated from Jowood but now they are working with them again so perhaps they also help with this expansion.)
Spellbound is busy with Gothic 4 after helping out a bit with Community Patch 1.6 so I don't think they are doing the "expansion" for Gothic 3. ("Expansion" as it seems it will be a stand-alone game made to clear up a few loose ends and bridge the story for Gothic 4, sort of like a prequel.)
