Man I just tried this game and it's awesome and then I read about this Enhanced Edition update Sad Guess I'll have to wait

the Enhanced Edition update is only for English speaking people , with allready pre-installed patch 1.3 + editor .... but one thing that will be different from the patch1.3 that we got allready is they will add one new bonus adventure and all those addons will be voiced (the download version is text only)

And what's the release date?

May 16th

BlueSkyz the enhanced edition (And the downloadable addon version for existing users.) will contain all sorts of other improvements and it will not require any additional patches or that editor to be installed. (From what I know atleast.)

They also do it for all localizations and not just the English version (English and German version will be re-translated a bit though.) and no those extra modules will not be voiced.
(Check the official forums, lots of information about it.)

EDIT:

Fact-sheet

No voice for the extra modules

Yeah they probably had problems with getting all voice actors back, especially as the game is localized in several different countries.
(Funding them and all that, still "Price of neutrality" was a excellent module.)

I do look forward to when this enhancement is released but having to restart is a bit bothersome albeit I understand why it's required.
(Thankfully the game is replayable but I'm quite bored of the prologue and first act by now so I'm taking it easy with the game until it's released.)

holy crap, NO additional voice work in the enhanced version? what a crock. here i was thinking HOLY SHIT THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME! look at all the work theyre putting in... now we find 'ehh... nah we cant be fucked... we just said we would so youd think we gave a shit, hahah you suck!'... wow.. what a huge letdown... its not like they aren't RE-SELLING the enhanced version, so its not like this is a completely free mod or anything, they are planning on re-selling the game so its not like they cant cover the cost of hiring some voice actors...

im still glad i bought the game, it IS a great game, and it IS good that the devs are putting additional work into it, but still i cant help but feel let down by their bullshit lie about the voice work.. if they dont intend to do something, they shouldnt have ever mentioned it to begin with... its a dirty trick on their part.

makes me a bit worried about what else they lied about... atleast the mod editor will allow for the community to pick up the slack...

i know it sounds like im being harsh... i still really like the devs... what i DONT appreciate is being lied to, thats all. like i said, im glad i bought the game, and im 92% definate ill be buying the next game as well.

They only said there won't be additional voice work for the extra module. The main game is still supposed to get it, as far as I know.

thats what i originally thought, and then i actually READ what was being said:

Quote:
As for today, voiceovers will not be available with Enhanced Edition.

so while the core game will maintain the voice work that was always there from the beginning, they will not be putting any new voice work or updating any vocal work for either the downloadable or the retail versions of the enhanced edition.

That thread discusses the extra modules not the enhanced edition itself.

It's already mentioned in that press release that the English edition (And a few others.) will be re-translated AND re-voiced. Smile

regardless of the thread topic, that SPECIFIC post clearly discusses and states that it WONT be in the ENHANCED edition.

once again, the quote:
Quote:
As for today, voiceovers will not be available with Enhanced Edition.

also the post was made by someone who seemed to have something to do with the devs, not just another random poster... so yeah, the post specifically talks about the enhanced edition, and that comes from 3 days ago, where as the press release you posted is out of date by over 2 months!!!

so from what you posted, it looks like the devs lied months ago about what was going to be in the enhanced edition, and have now come clean that new and altered dialogue wont be a part of that.

basically the only way new voice over stuff will be in the enhanced edition, is if the guy who posted that in the witcher forum is not in any way part of the dev team and has no inside knowledge... he was pretty clear that what he was talking about was the enhanced edition, not the mod

While I'm not saying that you have the wrong idea or impression since I'm also a bit unsure on what he meant (To me it's only regarding the two bonus modules and not the main game.) it doesn't really fit together, why would one version of the game be voiced whereas this enhanced edition will be unvoiced, especially as they are already re-recording voice lines for the German edition so they obviously have no problems with getting the voice actors back in.

Ofcourse they could have scrapped voice acting altogether but it seems odd to me if that would be the case when they want to make the "Enhanced edition" be the best version of The Witcher released.

Guess we will see when it's out, I'll check the forums a bit more as well, might be possible to get a clarification that way. Smile

well all im saying, is someone who seems to be part of the dev team in some way (and therefore would have inside knowledge), made a post on the forum saying that voiceovers will not be in the enhanced version of the game...

to me 'enhanced version' relates specifically to the huge downloadable 'revamp' content and the re-release version that was supposed to be out in may or something... is that what you also understand the 'enhanced version' to be as well?

the guy was pretty clear that he was talking about the enhanced version and not the modules in any way - did you assume when he said enhanced edition he was meaning the modules?

believe me, im SO hoping that the guy has his wires crossed and doesnt know what hes talking about, but the fact that he specifically mentioned 'enhanced edition' makes me think that they may indeed have decided doing all that extra voice work wasnt worth it, and have scrapped it.

to me, a lot of the witcher atmosphere would be stripped out if the additional missions come without spoken dialogue... and while the original dialogue would still be there, i was definately looking forward to the more fleshed out dialogue that we would have heard...

i really dont think i misunderstood what was being said.. once again, ill point out that he specifically used the words 'enhanced edition', so i cant really see how im misreading that... i can only hope that he himself got mixed up and meant to only say the modules.

The discussion in the thread I linked to above was that one regular user said that the "adventure modules" would be voiced in the enhanced edition which this developer from CD Red denied stating that the modules will be unvoiced.

I never actually thought of him meaning that the entire new dialogue in the enhanced edition would be unvoiced as that wouldn't really fit as I explained in my previous posts.

I'm pretty sure this goes for both the downloadable and retail editions of this remake as the downloadable edition just turns the old retail version into the enhanced edition.
(Will be quite a big download from what I understand, several GB infact.)

Still, we'll know more about this soon enough as it launches in around a month. Smile

well we all knew it was coming to consoles... 1: thats where the money is, and 2: they had job postings on their site for 360 designers or whatever

what worries me the most, is witcher 2 being a console game with a pc port.. i hope to fuck it doesnt happen like that.. probably will and it'd be a slap in the face given the love pc gamers showed the devs, but they'll go where the money is i guess Sad

That's not quite right. They've announced it would be released in August/September. Here's some more info that came along with it:

- the original release date (16-05-2008) of the Director's Cut edition has been changed to August/September in order to release the game simultaneously in all regions
- the new edition will contain all previous patches and some new ones pre-installed into the game
- there will be 50 new NPCs models added to the game
- loading times between levels will be reduced by 80%
- an additional DVD disc, containing two new story threads that will expand the gameplay by over a dozen hours of gameplay, will be included
- modders will be very pleased because of the implementation of D’jinii tool, which will provide the ability to create their own Witcher stories (The Witcher was entirely made using this tool)
- the edition will contain "the making of" DVD with both, Atari and CD Projekt RED's own, video documentaries
- there will be two soundtrack discs (one containing game OST and the other one, titled The Witcher Inspired, will contain commercial songs by artists such as Vader, Rootwater, Habakuk etc.)
- edition will contain a huge map of the game's world
- Andrzej Sapkowski's short stories will be added to the package as well
- game manual is new and extended (160 pages)
- console version is already in the works at CD Projekt RED
- the Director's Edition of the Witcher isn't the Collector's one, which will be released in the near future
