|

I currently still use my old 7800GTX, which is a piece of shit when it comes to running the latest games, so i'm thinking of upgrading. I have about €600 right now which is enough to buy a 9800GX2. But my question is, should i buy that now, or wait until summer when the 9900GTX may or may not be released?
Gigabyte S-Series GA-G33-DS3R, Intel C2D Quad Q6600 OC @ 3.2Ghz, 4gb Kingston PC8500 1066Mhz DDR2, Geforce 7800GTX (will get a 9800GTX when they are released), 2 x 250Gb HD's and a case with built in paper and lotion dispenser.

Don't do it man. Buy a 8800GT/GTS and be happy. No need to spend 10 million dollars on the most frustrating video card ever released (Next to the other GX2)
Check out some hardware forums about how many issues people are having with it. Either crashing, running games to begin with, or getting the performance of 2 cards rather then 1 in game.

Wait for the next generation. It's supposed to come in the summer, should be a much better choice.

an ati card......riiiiiight.
Why buy two cards when 1 geforce will spank it. Doing SLI and Crossfire is a waste of money as it is, I don't understand why people don't get it that it's nothing more than a gimick like Ageia

btw spykes, ati's 2x is 1 pcb with 2 cores technically its not sli/crossfire. (and its probably the way all graphics card will end up in the not so far future just like cpu's are dual core these days

I didn't know those were released yet. Rad.
Anywho, dropped like flies since the x-series. Then AMD bought them and made it even worse with their shit funding. AMD can't even make high end CPU's anymore, what makes them think they can outtake nvidia. If they don't get their shit straight they'll never take the crown again.

You have no reason not to, unless you have no money, or can't get your mouse hand off the masturbation

I have dual HD3870's and I don't see the problem with them.
The reason people like me get dual video cards is because we game at high resolutions on big screens. It's more than 'just a gimmick' for that. I never have slow downs with any of the games I want to play at native resolutions.
However, for a single card, I would totally agree that buying an 800GT right now is your best bet.
