Hi everybody

i'm having some major problems with my asus f5r notebook.
I'm hoping maybe some of you will know what's going on with this piece of garbage..

Normally it runs and freezes randomly, the screen turns black and only reboot helps, after the reboot i'm having tons of restarts and blue screen errors, sometimes the computer wo'nt boot and the screen stays black..

The weirdthing is when i switch memory slots it runs well to the next freeze.

Any ideas?

get new mem modules (kingston makes some for acre laptops, does it not?), just make sure they are the proper ones for your laptop, run a thorough (at least one~two hours) memtest on every module/slot combination, and see which one is error free. test that one extensively (6~16h) and hope it stays error free.. if nothing works it's something different, but screen turning black (getting faulty data, thinking it's in power saving mode) and random bluescreens, especially random bluescreens caused by the graphics driver are quite often the result of shitty ram (shitty by design, or because your power supply or faulty board fried them a bit or can't handle it).

or just buy new ones, stick them in, and see if it happens again and how long it takes.

Maybe write down the error code of your BSOD and have a look at windows Event viewer (administrative tools) first then report your findings, otherwise it will be hard to give you any meaningful reply. Smile
No need to rush to buy ram sticks yet. Wink
