well..i just noticed that this game is on 2007 games list, but i heared of it only today.
anyway..do you remember this briliant games from the early 90's?
i was fun of this puzzles and during the years i said to myself..how come there is no remake or something and finaly something cames up:

Societe Pollene announced the development of Gobliiins 4 a humorous adventure for the PC scheduled to be released this year. This is the next installment in a series which began back in 1991 with Gobliiins and continued with Gobliiins 2 in 1992 and Gobliiins 3 in 1993. The previous titles were developed by Coktel Vision, a French game developer which, in 1992, became a subsidiary of Sierra On-Line.

Nice, played these on the Amiga 500, 500 plus and 1200 Smile
I can fondly remember the puzzles, so many combinations you could try and even if you succeeded or not, you got a nice animation to show for it.
Not at all like other adventure games at the time where the main character would simply state "Can't do that" or "Those two don't fit together"
In my opinion they were just as fun as the then Monkey Island 2 Smile

And for those who haven't heard about these games here's a article about them. Smile

http://www.mobygames.com/game/gobliiins
http://www.mobygames.com/game/gobliins-2-the-prince-buffoon
http://www.mobygames.com/game/goblins-quest-3
(I've played all three via DOSBox but never managed to complete them, pretty difficult unless you save regularly and experiment with everything.)

Quite old but it's not the first time older titles have been resurrected like this.
(Such as Larry to name one example.)

The Gobliiins is the only one I finished from the trilogy. The second one crashed every time I tried to exit the underwater stage and the third one had a puzzle-stuck in the evil guy's throne room. Still, these are the among best puzzle games for me.

character models are simplistic, textures are low-res and bland, outdoor environments lack detail, especially when remembering how full of life and how many unique touches every room from the old goblins had. i'd take a hand drawn 2d environment over an empty 3d one anytime.

that being said, if the story, puzzles and general funniness and wackiness will be on the same level as the old ones, i'll be happy Smile

They're a bit masochist oriented to be fair, first game has stuff like health for your three characters and very difficult puzzles, use the wrong character with a item or object or such and you'll get "damaged".

Second game removed one Goblin but I don't remember much about it.

Third game had brutal puzzles and only one Goblin character but a hint system if you got stuck, limited to three hints though and there's a lot of maps to go trough, you'll basically end up using all objects you find on everything else and sometimes you need to do stuff in a specific order so it's very challenging.

yeah, the first goblins had those annoying health bars, but since you could save anytime, it's not that big of a problem. it also looks worse then 2 and 3, so i'd recommend that one only for those that liked the other two.

they're challenging, but not too challenging, since you never have access to a lot of rooms at once. you're mostly restricted to 1 to 3 rooms max, so it's not like other adventures where you hoard 20 items with you through 20 screens and end up with a disorientating amount of stuff that you can do.

well, it was in russian anyway.

unless they're waiting for the international release, it's kinda weird that they're launching it like this, without even trying to attract some attention. they prolly don't have much cash for advertising, but still, making a new trailer can't be that expensive.
