Well the best might be for some Steam related group to rip that release as it will be released a bit earlier on the 9th instead of most store dates which is the 11th.

I would actually have bought it over Steam myself but that region lock makes it impossible, will have to wait until it arrives at the local store here.

Talk about the game, not anything else. That includes black bars. The game has them, that's clear, there is no reason to keep talking about them, as it is not going to change anything.

Further off-topic posts will result in temp bans.

That's because they're making it Polish. I mean the version, it will be Polish, so I don't understand why are you so angry.

In that case i'd be pissed, too. I will only touch the original language so that would be wasted time from my perspective Razz

Based on reports on the Gamespot forums it appears that those random crashes might be caused by not using a gamepad or similar, rather odd but it is a beta build and hopefully this won't be a issue in the final version when it's released (retail that is) next week.

EDIT: Various spelling corrections.

maybe it looks for the Xbox360 pad drivers

Hmmm interesting.
Actually when I started playing I did have crashes like everybody else.
Then I started to ply with my gamepad (and not x360, normal easy and cheap dualshock look-alike) and no crashes (except Jerusalem and Arsuf)

So maybe that's the thing...

Yeah, probably that then. So that's good news, should be relatively easy for Ubi to fix.

This is not a g4w game.

Plus, I don't have 360 pad and had no crashes in either GoW or K&L.

In their infinite wisdom ( ) Microsoft has chosen to have two G4W specifications.

The first is just that a "Games for Windows" logo which certifies the game to be compliant with certain requirements such as a easy installation.

Alot of games have this certification and some stores even refer to the PC Games section the Games for Windows section and also have this Windows logo on it.

The second is the "Games for Windows: Live!" system which is that whole online system but there hasn't been that many titles with support for it.
(Probably for the better, all sorts of bugs have been reported and it feels very console oriented as it's basically a port of the X-Box/X360 system.)

I don't know if AC is G4W compliant but it wouldn't surprise me if it will have that Windows logo on it.

EDIT: Ofcourse this doesn't really change anything as it's just a certification and the game wouldn't really be different with or without it unless it used that "Live!" system.

EDIT: As LeoNatan said below this game does not use G4W:Live - pretty easy to notice as it doesn't require the player to log in after starting the game
(Normally by pressing F1)

(And the game also doesn't show those X360 buttons in the menus. Very Happy)

What he was talking was G4WL, which has the shit from MS integrated in the game (as an overlay). This game doesn't have it.

Strange, I must have missed that, probably didn't pay much attention to the menu interface as I rarely use it. (Adjusted the options the first time I played the game, haven't checked them much since then and play with most of the HUD turned off for increased challenge and better immersion though as I said it would be nice to be able to turn that glow effect off as well.)

Atleast it shows that they aren't that intrusive.
(Albeit I normally notice such details though I can understand it being useful for those playing with a X-Box like gamepad but for a mouse+keyboard interface it's not really that useful and might even be distractive.)

EDIT: Decided to re-check ingame and I think I see what you mean with the specific actions being color coded.
(Controls are pretty good overall, I use the mouse based control scheme and it works great, pretty streamlined controls when it only requires WSAD + five mouse button to work plus ESC for the menus and Alt-F4 to exit. Very Happy )

I had my buttons on the keyboard, not 5 on the mouse... Confused Did you play the Russian version? I heard that one defaults them on the mouse (what, all Russians have 5+ button mice?), but the beta Eng. one put them on my keyboard.

Alt+F4 to exit FTW!

Strange...

In gears of war I had to remove the games for 4 win crap and then it would stop crashing every 3 min.

In K&L it would crash every 10 min or so... I didnt find a solution to this.

However asscreed only crashes every hour or so...

Well all the games are uninstalled now anyway, both gears of war and k&l where crap games anyway IMO!

Yeah, this is EXACTLY why I'm angry... >..> I hate games in Polish. Dubbing is a crap most of the times and I always install English version so waiting for polonization (kinda English-Polish word Razz) is a pain in the back.

@LeoNatan

There are different control schemes in both the English and Russian version of the game, can't remember all of them but one was the keyboard (CTRL, Alt, Shift for specific moves), one was a three button mouse setup (I think this one was the default in the English version.), another was the above mentioned five button mouse setup plus WSAD to move (And the 1-5 keys to switch weapons.) and the final one used the numpad keys.

Ofcourse one can also plug in a gamepad and use that and remap the keys if needed. Smile
(But that's already known, strange how it solves crashes though, perhaps some direct input bug or whatever might crash it.)

EDIT: Oh and the Russian release is missing the toggle button for stances which makes it difficult to block attacks as you press and hold to block and then press again to block another attack but this puts Altair back in a passive stance so he gets hit or don't attack properly, quite annoying but I've managed to use it so far.
(Counter-kill really helps and it looks fantastic, I only wish he wouldn't alter so much between slapping the guards around and stabbing them to kill them.)
