I've been using Kaspersky anti-virus for a few years now. As time passed by, Kaspersky grew into a paranoid resource-hog and the latest version has reached the point where it wastes so much resources that I can't tolerate it anymore.

Which anti-virus software represents a good compromise between speed and security?

I've installed NOD32 with a crack, but it refuses to update to a database newer than 21.12.2007. Is there a known proper release I should look for?

Updates work fine now. I'm using ESET 3.0.630 with the EFix_2050v2_by_Dasumo crack.

It's just strange that ESET says my trail license will expire in two days although I already added a full license in the license settings.

Using NOD32 3.0.645.0 right now, and I must say it's must nicer than 2.7, so if anyone's stuck at that, just get the latest.

Well I installed it just yesterday, it's aight for now. Haven't noticed any slowdowns from the firewall, and the AV is Nod32, no words are necessary.

lmao @ trend vs none

the symantec one is pure bullshit. That crap doesn't catch anything. Not to mention I had to whipe my whole HD after I tried reinstalling, screwed everything up

Don't know, the Symantec AV Corporate Edition is quite good from what I remember, but still suffers from bloatness (like most Symantec crap).
