Robocop (1987). Absolute schlock Laughing Maybe a 6/10, for 1987 i think this is pretty bad, there are older action-scifi movies which has aged better. The whole idea is super solid though, but there's no world building, he did that far better in Starship Troopers.... It's too bad this didn't come out in the late 90's instead, bet it would've been a ton better.
Of course, back in 1987 i thought it was great.

You joking right? Original Robocop is at least an 8.
The music, the violence, the quotes, the bad guys, "bitches leave", etc

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

Have you watched it recently though?

It has like 2-3 violent scenes. Shooting the dude in the cock is ofc a classic.

But it feels way more b-movie and early 80's than e.g Terminator or Escape from New York, yet both came out earlier than Robocop. The actors, dialogue lol, the action with the stupid ramps, it makes it feel much earlier than an '87 movie, like very early 80's B-movie schlock, though with a budget and not completely terrible actors.

I do love Robocop, since it has such a nostalgic value + awesome idea overall. I collect figures etc, but if i am honest the movie is kind of trash Laughing currently playing the game and enjoying it!

Robocop has way more than 2-3 violent scenes. Hand blown off , then executed brutally , the granted scene with the prostitutes , the first ed 209 scene in the boardroom , the cock , the face melting in acid, I'm theres loads more without spoilers .

I watched it a while ago and gave it 7.25/10, which is enough I think. Don't get me wrong, the movie is enjoyable for what it is, but I agree with vurt on the b-movie feel, it's 80s on steroids.

you're probably right, i only remember 3, it just felt way less violent than i remembered it (probably 20 years since i saw it before this viewing) and way more b-movie like too, or rather i should say "cheesy", and more so than even earlier sci-fi action movies.

Ash - 5.5/10

Only worth for the aesthetics. Even the music (incredible to say this coming from Flying Lotus himself) was bland. Meh.

Havoc - 6.5/10

Club setpiece was AWESOME. Rest was okay.

Never been a Jack Black fan. He is the musical Chris Farley to me. Where their whole 'comedy' is unnecessarily loud = funny.
But his formula for it is always: Say something normal volume, pause, follow up loud statement while making an intense face. Pretty much Jack Black acting in a nutshell.

Nosferatu (2024) 6.5/10

The horror aspect is not my cup of tea in any movie.
I am not an expert in a fictional German town circa 1830 where people all speak pre Victorian English as they tend to do in movies. I just imagined they were in London, just like in the original Dracula.
I watched it for the feeling of historic accuracy of exterior designs, costumes, dialogues. Eggers pays close attention to these details.

I liked the acting, but it still took me a couple of days to complete the film. It was somewhat boringly underwhelming. It's definitely inferior to Coppola's 1992 Dracula.
