Can't you just put it some external hdd or flash and then connect it to XBOX via usb? Or do you have to run it from a disk?

This don't work. The 360 doesn't detect the game on a flash drive. So I can't copy it over.

At least when it comes to multiplayer a limit to the destructibility is necessary. Otherwise every map thats been played for longer then 15 minutes will be barren.

I don't see why they needed to limit single player though, they could easily maintain some balance by only giving you a limited amount of explosive weaponry. This way you could still completely destroy individual structures, you just can't destroy everything.

Maybe:

1. The box can't handle it this big

2. A city in ruins becomes a clipping/physics/younameit/AI bugfest

All they need to do is have totally destroyed buildings become an effectively flat plane, it won't look pretty but it'll eliminate all those problems. It worked well enough in Mercenaries.

Well these days in 2008 that would be developers cheating. The debris should stay with physics enabled so a tank can further crush them etc etc for realism.

Or they should stick to cardboard shacks from Crysis...

This game has the potential to absolutely smoke all online shooters for the consoles at the moment, even the coveted nadespamming repetitive borefest Call of Duty 4.

I watched that tech demo a while back showing the destruction of various structures and vegetation and it all looked great. Games like Soldner have attempted this before, Frontlines Fuel of War has a basic form of it, some Battlefield 2 mods have it but its all very static and very much "faked".

Everything Ive seen or read about the Frostbite engine looks to take it to the next level. I hope when they are done with this they get back to making a proper PC sequel for the Battlefield franchise though.

Ill be online tomorrow with the rest of you, I hope you will all share your impressions.

Clarification about those unlockable extra weapons.
http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/51892

Hopefully it won't alter balance in any significant way but on the other hand things like this needs a reason to buy them such as for example a unlockable rifle having a scope or larger magazine than the default rifle.

I played the beta from the DVD and it worked fine Very Happy

It feels, plays and looks just like battlefield 2.

But now you can blow things up, and that is the reason I am going to play this game!

I hated it so much that you could not destroy anything in the last battlefield games. Too bad there are still some bugs in the game. But the final product is going to rock I believe. Smile

I only did not see any airplanes... they are going to be in there right...

One could write a better 'preview' just from watching the videos, so my guess is you haven't played it Very Happy

.... I played that dessert map with water on the sides. You can download the beta and play it direct from the dvd. I did not wrote any "preview" just what I saw in the first in my first 60mins in the game.

I played this morning at 7 AM EST and it was already packed full of players... now I cant even join a game... seems the demand for this beta was greater than they anitcipated... stupid fucking EA.

My impressions so far...

The explosions are amazing... you can blow up pretty much everything. Here in lies the issue... they give Assault classes like 6 rifle grenades. So there is just explosive ordinance flying everywhere and it can get kind of stupid.

That being said, the only map I played on was a really small attack & defend map... a small village with several Gold Rush crates scattered around the various houses and the only vehicle in sight Humvee type Jeeps with machine gun turrets for the attackers side. This could have contributed to the smacktard factor I experienced of everyone blowing the living shit out of everything in the map if it moved or not. Id like to think that the larger maps will alleviate this and the initial novelty of being able to blow the shit out of stuff wears off and the tactical side of this game shows. Right now it seems like a chaotic run 'n gun where everyone has a grenade launcher.

So there you have it. I am still looking forward to this game and as they fix the server load issues and I get to play some more I will post more impressions.

For those that want to cry foul and claim I havent played it or the like, I have a legit download through the use of a beta key. I also noticed that the key I got and the key I got for a buddy is the same... not sure if this means that there was only 1 universal key for the beta access or if they caught on to my plan of getting multiple keys and issued me the same key twice. As soon as he tries to use the code I will let you all know.

So does the profile swap work on this?

I downloaded the game to DVD, works but makes stupid noises and takes forever to load. When your playing, it takes ages to load up the weapon your using so you can't aim for the first 20 seconds of a spawn. It's annoying as fuck.

I tried copying it over to a USB HDD, too. No luck getting it to run using that. Any other ideas apart from getting a HDD dock? I don't trust that too much hehe.

If you only have clonecd than just select the iso and press burn. You can even unpack the .iso and burn it using nero. And this can also be done with non modded 360's as you can read in the nfo.

Bad Company Drops Weapon Charges

badcompanydice.jpg After the shitstorm of dissension in the ranks of gamers upset over the possibility of EA's upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company including weapons that were only available for purchase via Xbox Live or in the special Gold Edition of the game, DICE senior producer Karl-Magnus Troedsson has come forward to announce that there will indeed be no exclusive weapons for sale. Reversing what EA told Crecente back on the 24th of last month, Troedsson reveals that while the Gold Edition does contain five exclusive weapons, purchasers of the regular version will be able to unlock all of the weapons by reaching the final rank in the game..

All guns are available to everyone. However, we want to give some exclusivity to those who buy the Gold Edition. They will get the five Gold Edition weapons from Day One when they put the disc in. People that don't buy the Gold Edition can get the five additional weapons by getting to the final rank in the game.

As for the remaining five weapons, those will be available to everyone free of charge via various marketing promotions run by EA, along the lines of 'Fill out this survey, get your gun code'. The fact that they were originally listed as purchasable via Xbox Live, according to Troedsson, was a simple miscommunication.

All of you noisy bastards who complained vehemently from day one should give yourselves a big pat on the back, as community voices were the reason the change was made.

It's really important for us to get across that we do listen to what people say out there. We don't have time to run around and comment on everything but we do listen to what people say out in the community. It's really important feedback and that's why we make changes like this.

Just to verify all of this information, we got in touch with EA directly, and a representative for the company verified all of the above information, stating that the guns would never be available for purchase, and that the DICE folks, being big on community feedback, were testing the waters with the DLC idea. Turns out the waters were far too hot.

so you don't have to pay for them as DLC but you can pay for them by buying a more expensive 'gold' edition. Sounds like a classic example of EA pissing up your back and telling you it's raining
